Digital camera Review: Does Not Work; Impossible to Set Up

I ordered this item to provide my house with wireless internet. After it arrived, I took it out of the box. The instructions read "insert the enclosed CD and follow the on-screen instructions." I put the CD in. When the icon appeared on the desktop, I opened it. There were no instructions! Instead, I was presented with a baffling array of 13 different icons, none of which had self-explanatory names. So I called the 1-800 technical help number. Over approximately half an hour, I spoke (with difficulty) to two different women located in the Philippines. Both spoke English with a heavy accent, and at times I had trouble understanding them. I was asked my name, my telephone number, and the model and serial numbers for this device. I was asked who my internet provider was. I was also asked "how I was" today, thereby pointlessly wasting both my time and theirs. I spent all of the 30 minutes answering THEIR questions, but was never told how to install or set up this device. Instead, I was informed that this device would not, in fact, provide me with wireless internet as advertised. So, there you go. If you are a technical person, then perhaps you can figure out for yourself how to install this thing. But I would not recommend this device for the average person. It will not provide you with wireless internet, and you will get no help from customer service.Digital camera Review: Does extend my coverage! Yay! But a little tricky to set up.

First off, I'm very pleased with the end result. It does in fact extend the reach and coverage of my original wireless router generously and consistently. I am using this solely as an access point to "throw" the wireless signal farther in my home and yard. And it definitely works! I used to have one bar in my basement, and now I have full bars (partially due to putting the access point in a more central location than my original wireless router.)
That being said, it took a few long phone calls to Linksys Tech Support to get me there. I'm not sure who is lucky enough to get everything working with the "easy setup CD", but it's never been me with Linksys products, this one included. But it must've been within warranty and so it was a free tech support call. And I must say they were very friendly and patient, and with much configuration, helped me to get it working. Yay!
So I would recommend this product, but just be prepared that it might not be as easy to set up as the box claims! :)

I wanted a wireless repeater with WPA security. As far as I can find from information online it will not work like this. It may work in WEP but that is old and weak. I didn't want to go backwards. I had problems connecting it to my router a WRT54GS with the CD and after mutiple attempts it would show up. I can't tell you how it works in the other modes since I didn't want it to work as a wired AP. I wanted to extend the range and strength of my wireless signal to an area in my home with a weak signal from my current router location wirelessly. I've decided to upgrade my old trusty WRT54GS with a newer router. We'll see if that helps and If I have to return it I guess I'll research some stronger antenna options other than my Linksys 7dbi that are currently on the router. Very good product. No complaints. It is hooked up to my DSL router and delivers a powerful signal to my desktop and 2 laptops. Making the connection using a variety of devices including a dlink pcmcia card was trivial and took under 5 minutes to get the security key typed in and going. The signal is so strong I can pick it up anywhere inside and even from outdoors on my 2 acre lot (the walls of the house are brick), so be sure you have security settings turned on. I find the powerful signal to be an advantage because I can work outdoors on the patio or at a picnic table.Digital camera Review: Don't Waste Your Time

This product never worked for me. I was fooled by the linksys reputation and the fact that I had a working BEFSR41. I wanted to keep everything Linksys so I bought this and the G notebook adapter. I could never get it to recognize the access point although everything appeared to be working. I then called support which was an absolute horrible experience. I called 6 times, waiting on hold and average of 40 min each time. I was hung up on twice, put on hold about 200 time to "check the knowledge base", lied to about being sent something in email and was told that it didnt matter to them if I returned it or not. I was also told by support that I was trying to set up a "complicated network" even though all 3 products were linksys. So after 3 days worth of headaches and horrible support I took it back and went with Belkin which setup in 5 minutes!!! Please go with them instead of Linksys. Don't be fooled like me.
