Digital camera Review: Driver Fails To Work Correctly On Windows 2000

With an out of the box installation, the Linksys Monitor (the utility to monitor and configure the adapter) could not see the adapter as being "Active." Linksys Technical Support consisted of (1) asking what O/S I was using (Windows 2000 Professional - which is supposed to be supported), (2) directing me to reinstall the drivers, (3) download latest drivers from their web site even though it was the same version that came on the CD, and (4) suggested I return the adapter.
I tried the installation on 4 different laptop computers. Three were W2K, and 1 was XP. Installation on the XP laptop worked as described in the installation guide. I never got a successful installation on any W2K laptop.
I cannot recommend this product if being installed on a W2K laptop.

I found this card very easy to install and configure. I connect to the Linksys Wireless-G router. I literally had my newtork working in 5 minutes.I have not found there to be a problem with the card heating up.
Sometimes when my laptop has been idle for a long time I will lose my ip address, subnet mask, and default gateway. To get it back I open the wireless card properties and and click Repair on the Support tab. This always seems to fix the problem. Other than that I have had no issues and I get great connectivity throughout my apartment.
I rely on this wireless network heavily to work from home and I have to say that it works great.

I hadn't yet installed this adapter when I had to go in the hospital. The laptop and adapter were brought to me there, where I ran the CD and had it installed and working in minutes, without a hitch.
