Digital camera reviews of Cisco-Linksys WRT310N Wireless-N Gigabit RouterDigital camera Review: Dead after two weeks of choppy service. Summary: 1 Stars
I owned mine for two weeks. It would frequently restart for no apparent reason, and ran hot to the touch. The two weeks ended with not being able to connect to the internet, followed by an hour-and-a-half-long tech support call in which the tech told me to return the unit to the store because they had tried everything they could think of, and concluded that the unit was dead. I used the store credit to buy a D-link router that has been the most trouble-free router I have ever owned.
Digital camera Review: Difficult to Install, Sketchy Tech Support Summary: 2 Stars
Let me begin by saying I am fairly technically competent. I was trying to get this device working for over an hour. I was unable to run the installation software on either my Vista or XP pro machine (error message: ethernet cable not conected). I called support and was walked through the ipconfig and the wire connection worked fine.
After this support, the rep asked for $10 to set up the wireless conection. She said that the provided software (LELA) was defective and that the router would not run with it (i.e. fixing their mistake for $10). The support person also said that I would not be able to set it up myself, but there was nothing complicated about it. This ticked me off. I said no, got off the phone, and got everything working within a couple minutes.
The machine looks slick and works well now.
Digital camera Review: Disappointed with Signal Strength Obtained by Adapter Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this product to replace a Linksys G-router which started giving me frequent disconnections (about every minute or so). I decided to upgrade to this N-router thinking I would have MUCH better and faster speed. WRONG....With the G-router and G-adapter, I always had a strong signal from where my desktop computer was in relation to my notebook computer. With the N-router and N-adapter, I now have a "LOW" signal.....same computers, same locations, etc. I even went out and bought another identical N-adapter but had the same results. I spent several hours configuring the channels, etc., including using Linksys' Chat service. Nothing solved my problem. Tomorrow, however I'm going to solve my problem by taking all of this back and getting a different router and adapter, whether by Linksys or another company, I'm not sure yet. I do know that I was VERY disappointed with this router and the adapter.
Digital camera Review: EXCELENT TECHNICAL SUPPORT Summary: 4 Stars
THE ROUTER IS ALMOST PERFECT. RANGE COVERS ALL MY HOUSE AND HAS OPTIMUM SPEED. A COMPLETE SET OF OPTIONS MAKE IT CONFIGURABLE FOR MOST APPLICATIONS. WHAT I'D LIKE TO POINT OUT IS THE OUTSTANDING TECHNICAL SUPPORT FROM LINKSYS. THESE GUYS REALLY KNOW THEIR STUFF AND HELPED ME TO SOLVE QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY THE CONNECTION PROBLEMS I HAD. THE ONLY THING THAT CONCERNS ME IS THE OPERATING TEMPERATURE OF THIS ROUTER. IT GETS HOT, THAT'S THE REASON i'M JUST GIVING 4 STARS.
Digital camera Review: Easy setup and no issues Summary: 4 Stars
Routers should be invisible after installation and this one has been. No issues and it runs fast. It does run a little hotter than my previous router but no really an issue for me as I was prepared for that when I setup in my home office. It is a keeper.
