Digital camera reviews of Cisco-Linksys WRT310N Wireless-N Gigabit Router

Digital camera Review: Fast and Easy
Summary: 5 Stars

This router replaced a Linksys 802.11g router I have had for at least 2 years. I have always been happy with Linksys, so I decided to give this one a try.

Setup was quick and easy. It has a nice low profile on my desk and I really like the easy setup button it has for syncing other products with it.

I've had it pugged in for about 8 hours now and I am not experiencing the heat problems other people have. I don't have anything underneath it and the sides are clear so that might be an issue with others, I don't know. I also have a glass desk that it sits on so maybe that helps more than wood - I have no idea, but I can tell you that I am not experiencing any heat issues.

My setup is using all four ports at once as well as 4 wireless connections. So far I am really happy. First day and all, who knows what the future brings - but it does hook up quick and the quality seems great. I was using a slingbox over 802.11g before - now with this router and an 802.11n bridge (game adapter), I see a great improvement over the 'g'.

Digital camera Review: Go with the WRT610N instead
Summary: 2 Stars

I had two of these (one as a replacement for the other) and both of them were unable to maintain connections on wireless for more than about a day at a time. I did not experience the overheating that others have, but a couple laptops and a Linksys WET610N wireless Ethernet bridge would all frequently lose connection to the Internet or lose the wireless connection entirely. The laptops would eventually reconnect on their own, but the bridge required a power cycle each time. I got my money back and got the WRT610N, which so far has been fine. It has been running for a couple weeks without dropping a connection. The speeds are not what I expected from wireless-n, but some of that may be interference in the house. The WRT610N also has gigabit WAN if your Internet connection is over 100Mbit like some companies that offer fiber to the home are able to produce. It's more expensive than the WRT310N, but so long as it stays stable, it's better.

Digital camera Review: Good Product - Hard to set up
Summary: 4 Stars

Really cool product - range, speed, etc. works really good. The only problem that I had was installation & set up. The instruction was not quite clear and after several attempts to make it work I ended up calling Customer service rep. They have 24 hours support, and the rep walked me through instrallation & set up very late at night, and everything works now. Great product & excellent support

Digital camera Review: Good Router for standard wireless networking
Summary: 4 Stars

The school I'm attending currently uses it. Its true they maybe a little bias and only really use Linksys products. I'm a network communication major in the school. They only use Cisco (linksys) material because that is the network standard brand. There are other out there personally like better but this linksys router was pretty impressive. There is a good range of features and it seems pretty reliable. I got a decent connection with "G" (because my laptop doesnt do N) with about 1-3 bars from about 100-150ft and through a few walls. Its a pretty good router overall.

Digital camera Review: Good router
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading all the bad reviews, I figured out that people who complain about this product just don't know what they're doing. I bought this to replace my aging wrt54g, and it was totally worth it. I can see the "over" heating problem, but complaints listed here are greatly exaggerated. Just put thing on something like a small box to provide ventilation on the bottom. Otherwise, just turn the thing off when you're not using it. This is a great product and configures just as easily through the web browser as all the other Linksys products. I didn't use the CD.
