Digital camera Review: 3 HOURS TO SETUP! Buuut - then it works like a charm

Like many others have noted, the product does work like a charm, provided you can get it setup correctly. Unlike some other reviewers, I found that using the software on the CD and following instructions actually works - unless you have other difficulties with your wireless set up (like I did) during installation, then installing this product should only take half an hour. If you've got a technical friend - definitely let them handle this one. It's worth it. Now I've got a nice strong signal in my office.Digital camera Review: 3 stars for bad instructions

i spent an hour trying to figure out how to get this working. i'm not computer illiterate either. i followed the instructions perfectly and it didn't work. i got fedup and went on amazon and saw Anthony Taylor's review. i use the directions in his review and I got it working in 2 minutes. the range extender works like a charm. 3 stars for linksys on bad directions. 5 stars for anthony taylor.Digital camera Review: 50% Chance of Working

After calling Linksys found that this expander doesn't work with anyting but Wireless G routers. For anything else, like my Linksys Wireless N Router, there is a 50/50 chance it will work. This is the second expander I have purchased, both of which had the same firmware revision. With the first one, I attempted to join it to my WEP-enabled network that also had MAC Address filtering enabled. It took over three hours on the phone with Linksys to get the expander to recognize my network and required changing my router's timing settings. Since the unit was such a pain to configure, I ended up giving it to my parents who had a WAP network with no MAC filtering. We reset the expander to factory defaults, configured it as instructed ,and were up and running within 30 minutes. Automatic detect didn't work on their network, but 30 minutes was a more reasonable configuration time. I bought another unit for the myself when we added another computer to our house. I reset my router to factory defaults, enabled WAP encryption, and was able to join this extender within 30 minutes. We did not have to change any timings this time around. Given the trouble recognizing a WEP-enabled network and the fact that the auto-detech functionality didn't work, I will only give the expander three stars. I have a large home and wifi coverage on my second floor was not as good as desired. I purchased this range expander mostly because my PS3 is upstairs and I would frequently lose connectivity.
Set up seemed easy enough according to the instructions, I just wish that there was a little more information regarding ill effects that might be caused by installation. I inserted the CD, worked through steps 1 & 2, but got stuck at step 3 when trying to find the device wirelessly. So, I stopped and figured I would do a little web-surfing before going to bed. While my connectivity to my routher worked, wireless internet did not. After some basic troubleshooting I decided to uninstall the driver for my wireless network adapter. Wireless internet began to work after I rebooted and the laptop reinstalled the new driver. Unfortunately, this happened every time I ran the setup CD. This got old really fast.
Fortunately I have a work laptop and I was able to set up the expander using it. I could have saved a lot of trouble if I had known that there were some system requirements or that this would have caused unintended problems if I tried to install with my laptop.
Other than that issue, everything works great! PS3 connectivity is fantastic and downloads are faster than ever on it. The laptops work great upstairs as well.
