Purchased this phone for an elderly lady (84) who wasn't hearing well on incoming phone calls and the problem is miraculously solved. The tone and volume sliders are easy to use and most helpful for adjusting to fit the circumstances, i.e., background noise, etc. The ringer is quite loud on medium and loud and the red light is a plus along with the ringer volume to get your attention. Have had phone for almost a year without any incidents. All-in-all a great purchase. Highly recommend. Well although the phone is fine, I was vastly disappointed, my own fault I guess for not double-checking. I had found the Clarity XL40D speakerphone online and decided to see if Amazon had it because I trust them more. I typed it in and it brought up this phone. After I received it, input saved phone numbers for my elderly father in another state and shipped it to him assuring him it was a speakerphone - he asked me where the speakerphone button was and I double-checked and found I had ordered the XL40 which is NOT a speaker phone. The whole point was to get him a speakerphone. I just feel a little bit "tricked" because I have ordered from Amazon numerous times and was always very happy with my purchases. I had typed the correct number in, it showed this phone and I ordered it without double checking that it was on EXACTLY like the other one. Since my father cannot program it, I had it shipped to me in Nevada and then I programmed it and shipped it overnight to him in Florida at a large expense. I'm not going to ship it back to return it, my father does not even drive to get that done, but beware when you put something in search they don't always show you what you wanted but sometimes it's very similar. It looked just like it. The phone itself is fine, if I had wanted one that was not a speakerphone, but my 87 year old father has plenty of those - he needed a speakerphone. This is not. I purchased this phone recently for my father in law, who is quite hard of hearing, after reading the many positive reviews. Now I want to add my own to the list. The phone lived up to our expectations. It is well made, and simply erases his hearing problems when he talks on the phone. He is no longer frustrated, and neither are the family members that converse with him. A great product, no complaints.
