This item was purchased for my elderly aunt who had a serious problem hearing me on the phone. It has been amazing how effective this phone has been. This phone was purchased for my 84yr old Mom. She is having trouble hearing and this phone is working just fine. I like the fact that it is on the wall, however my next purchase will be a portable, big-button,clarity power phone. She is not able to spend as much time in her kitchen now as she once was so the wall phone is not being used as much. I bought this unit and another similar phone (both from Clarity) for my mom. Both broke down within 6 months. There is no amplied effect now (the sound is actually weaker than a normal phone now). The "push down" bottons which is supposed to amplify sound also no longer work. I bought two other brands at the same time which are still working.Digital camera Review: Excellent

Other positive reviews are accurate. I do not understand reviews stating that ringer is to loud. With this phone you will hardly ever find yourself "yelling into the phone" (those who are doing it know what I mean).
We purchased this for my wife's 96 Year Old Grandmother and couldn't be more happy with it. She loves this phone and how it operates. Excellent product for someone with poor vision as well.
