This phone works so good that really helps a hearing imparied person to notice that the phone is ringing, not only the loudness but it has a brinking light indicator. The phone is able to adjust loudness on the ring tone and also on the hand set. It is the best gift for senior who has hearing problems. Well although the phone is fine, I was vastly disappointed, my own fault I guess for not double-checking. I had found the Clarity XL40D speakerphone online and decided to see if Amazon had it because I trust them more. I typed it in and it brought up this phone. After I received it, input saved phone numbers for my elderly father in another state and shipped it to him assuring him it was a speakerphone - he asked me where the speakerphone button was and I double-checked and found I had ordered the XL40 which is NOT a speaker phone. The whole point was to get him a speakerphone. I just feel a little bit "tricked" because I have ordered from Amazon numerous times and was always very happy with my purchases. I had typed the correct number in, it showed this phone and I ordered it without double checking that it was on EXACTLY like the other one. Since my father cannot program it, I had it shipped to me in Nevada and then I programmed it and shipped it overnight to him in Florida at a large expense. I'm not going to ship it back to return it, my father does not even drive to get that done, but beware when you put something in search they don't always show you what you wanted but sometimes it's very similar. It looked just like it. The phone itself is fine, if I had wanted one that was not a speakerphone, but my 87 year old father has plenty of those - he needed a speakerphone. This is not. My first big disappointment with Amazon, again partially my fault, but I was in a hurry to find him what he needed.Digital camera Review: great !

the ameriphone XL40 works great. my husband has not been able to talk on the phone for years and he wore a hearing aid. he can hear good on this phone and if you're like me and like to be outside a lot, you can turn the ringer up and it shakes the house.Digital camera Review: product was as advertised
