Digital camera reviews of Clarity Amplified Photo Phone (P300)Digital camera Review: Good for the sight and hearing challenged Summary: 4 Stars
Bought this phone for my father in law who is hard of hearing and has limited vision. It has all the right features but the "audio amplification" button is tough to see for those with poor vision. Other than that, it meets the special needs we had for a phone at a low price
Digital camera Review: Good phone for elders Summary: 5 Stars
I got this phone for my dad who had trouble remembering phone numbers. He now calls anytime he wants, maybe that is not a good feature? He can not hear high pitched rings so the ringer tone adjustment is nice. The amplified volume button has to be manually turned on for each phone call. I often have to remind him to turn it on when he can not hear me. It helps amplify the call but is not exceptionally loud. Overall the phone is great for the price. I would expect to pay 100 for something similar.
Digital camera Review: Good, but could be better Summary: 3 Stars
This phone was purchased because my Mom lost her sight due to a stroke.
Considering the cost, this phone is a handy item. However since it is geared to someone with poor vision or needing easy number access its lacks in a few key areas.
Cons:
1. The top 9 buttons cannot easily be felt. It would be nice if there were definite edges to delineate where each button was, prior to pushing. It would be even better if each could have some characteristic feel as well, so the top right button could be distinguished from the middle right, without having to track down from the top.
2. The bottom numbered buttons would be nice if they had braille or bumps on them, so they can be dialed without being able to read the numbers.
3. Volume Sliders should be distinguishable from one another. The slider for the ringer and the phone volume feel the same. They can be only differentiated due to geography. The slider head should have a different shape.
4. Emergency button light is too small for a severely vision challenged person to see. It only tells the rest of us the phone is plugged in.
5. All memory is lost if the phone is unplugged, so I put not only the names on the top speed call buttons, but the numbers so reprogramming is easier. So far, I have had to reprogram this phone once due to moving it.
6. It has a cheap plastic feel to it, but considering the cost, this is okay.
Pros:
1. Most of the buttons have a definite click to them. This is great for a person that does not see well.
2. Big buttons means less mistakes
3. Amplify button, has a bump on it, handy to recognize and handy if the AC turns on, when on the phone. Nice that the amplification goes away with a hang up, so no one gets deafened.
All in all this phone does the job for my sight-challenged Mom. If she had the phone before the vision issues it would be easier to use, but like most users of this phone, she will probably not see it well ,the entire time she has used it.
It would be a great phone for an elderly person with poor sight, that can still make out numbers.
NOTE:
Since my Mom wears a wrist band for emergencies, I did not program her emergency button, to avoid accidental activation. Also I think if she thought she could get 911 by mistake, she would not use the phone.
Digital camera Review: Great Phone for the Elderly Summary: 5 Stars
This phone has been wonderful. It has enabled my mom, who is in a nursing home and has Alzheimer's, to be able to have a phone and call myself and my brother who lives out of state. She says "they can take anything but don't ever take away my phone". I put pictures in the memory spots so she doesn't have to think about anything, all she has to do is press our pictures. I'm so happy that I found this, It's truly been life changing for my Mom!
Digital camera Review: Great Phone for the Price Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this phone for my elderly mother who has problems with her vision as well as tremors in her hands. The big buttons are easy for her to see and dial without hitting the wrong key. The stored numbers feature is another plus because she can simply hit one button to call the people she calls most often. The previous big button phone she had also had that feature but the buttons used for the stored numbers were tiny which basically defeated the purpose. I also like the white color of the phone offset by the black buttons with big white numbers! These buttons are also bigger than her previous big button phone. The one feature it lacks is a lighted keypad when you pick up the receiver. Great buy overall!
