Digital camera reviews of Coby CA-747 Dual Position CD/MD/MP3 Cassette Adapter

Digital camera Review: 2 out of 3 work
Summary: 4 Stars

Over the past 2 years, I've bought 3 of these cassette adaptors: one for myself, and 2 for my parents, who both have nice new iPods as of last Christmas. 2 of them worked in several different cassette players (including 2 different auto-reverse cassette players), and the sound quality was great. The third one would not work at all in an auto-reverse cassette player, so I sent it back and Amazon.com refunded it with no problem. We replaced it with a MP3-radio transmitter, which works almost as well as the cassette adaptor was supposed to.

Digital camera Review: A below average quality product
Summary: 2 Stars

I was excited by seeing good reviews and reasonable price while placing order to buy this product. However, disappointed at the first use itself due to poor quality of sound and it was transmitting sound to only left channel of speakers. I did test my cassette player with normal tape cassette and it was playing perfectly. So finally, I have returned this. Also, the cassette is configured to play at B-side, however whenever I insert it, the player plays by default at A side, which cause eject of the adepter if you don't set play B-side at player immediate after every insert of adepter in the player.

Digital camera Review: After fixing the auto reverse problem it works fine.
Summary: 3 Stars

I had the problem where the tape would get ejected after being inserted. This wouldn't happen all the time but enough to be annoying. So I finally got around to taking it apart like one of the other reviewers said to do. I didn't exactly follow their instructions because they were unclear to me.

Instead when I took the adapter apart I ended up just taking out the entire guide part in the lower right hand corner. Just pull up on it to get it out. Also take the gear out that is under it. That is all I did and then put it back together and it worked fine.

It works fine now but it gets three stars because I had this trouble with it.

Digital camera Review: Amazing quality.
Summary: 4 Stars

Before I had this, I had a generic cassette adapter. The sound was horrible and it made a terrible, tinny echo. I bought it for my Ford Taurus which costs $800 to add a CD changer to. My wireless FM adapter sounded better than my generic cassette adapter, and it was static city since the antenna is on the opposite side of the car (station wagon).

I was pleasantly surprised when I got this adapter to replace my old one. The sound quality is better than the strongest FM station here, and the coiled cord really reduces the mess in my car. I only had one problem with this, and I think that is because of my car stereo, but I will note it anyway.

After 10 minutes of playing, my car stereo would switch to side 2, then side 1, and display TDE1 and eject the tape. After getting very angry, I found a solution. Simply take the adapter apart, spray WD40 on all the gears, and remove the small gear assembly that prevents the rape from being rewound (was this even necessary? there is no physical tape so it doesn't matter if someone tries to rewind it). Problem solved!

I would definitely get this over any other adapter.

Digital camera Review: Another tip for systems that eject the Coby CA-747
Summary: 5 Stars

Clean the heads of the cassette deck per the usual schedule. My Coby CA-747 works exactly as it should as long as I keep the heads clean.

Great value for the price, particularly if you just want to hear your portable over the car speakers and you're not looking for the highest fidelity. And still sounds infinitely better than the wireless FM transmitter I replaced.
