Digital camera reviews of Coby CVE92 Isolation Stereo EarphonesDigital camera Review: A decent competitor to the JBuds Summary: 4 Stars
I originally purchased the JBuds and fell in love with them - extremely comfortable, great bass, everything. Unfortunately, about 5 months after purchasing them, the noise in one of the earphones has failed. This may have been due to me wrapping the earphones around my ipod constantly (which is something completely reasonable to do; I even started becoming anal over it and unplugging it every time I wrapped it around my ipod, to put less stress on the earphone cables), but I was a bit disappointed in the lifespan of my earphones. I opted to try for the Coby because I had been considering it alongside the Jbuds when shopping for earphones the first time.
Sound wise: the bass is softer compared to the Jbuds - a quality that may or may not be to your preference. The quality of sound seems to be slightly lower than the Jbuds, though not too far off, and definitely acceptable. However, hopefully with the perpendicular earphone jack, the sound will last longer.
Aesthetically, the earphones look fine. I have small-ish ears, so the 'buds' that came with the earphones did not fit me and kept slipping out of my ears. I opted to switch them out for the Jbuds buds that I used prior to this (and just a note, Jbuds comes with three different sizes of buds, while Coby only comes with one).
Overall, if you see the Jbuds for $10, I'd try out those instead. But for the price, these earphones aren't a bad buy.
Digital camera Review: A decent pair of earbuds Summary: 3 Stars
These earbuds are, dollar for dollar, a decent purchase. I bought them for $10 and they perform any task I ask of them adequately. They are well made, and feel comfortable in my ears. I would give them a better review, but I have also recently come into a pair of JVC "marshmallow" earbuds for about the same price. Although the Coby buds are slightly more comfortable, the JVC buds produce far better sound, especially when it comes to bass. These earbuds do a fair job of mid-range reproduction, and decent high-end reproduction, but their bass is lacking. Anyone fond of the Roland 808 will immediately see the shortcomings of these earbuds.
Bottom line: For the money, they aren't bad, but you can do better. Check out the JVC "marshmallow" headphones for an all around better experience.
Digital camera Review: A fantastic pair of headphones Summary: 5 Stars
I've had these headphones for over 6 months now and I can't recommend them enough. Forget the fact that they aren't even $6; Their sound quality is superb, they are light, soft, and fit comfortably in my ears, and they are very durable. I've used these headphones while working on my laptop, with my iPod in the gym, they've been my main headphones while I've done major traveling around the world, and they still work flawlessly. I'm about to order another pair only because after extensive use they've gotten a bit dirty. I suppose you could knock it for the fact that the white color makes dirt more obvious, but that's a minor quibble.
Buy these headphones, I use them over more expensive pairs I've bought in the past all the time.
Digital camera Review: A good purchase if was $1 Summary: 1 Stars
My my expensive headphones that worked fine for months suddenly stopped working only for the left side. I was away from my normal home, so I decided to buy these Coby headphones as a cheap replacement until I got home to solder my old ones. Delivery was fast, but by the very second day, these headphones sounded like they had gone through a year of rough abuse. Audio was only present on the right side, never the left, and even then, only about 90% of the time.
Digital camera Review: A great buy Summary: 5 Stars
How much can you expect for earphones that cost about six bucks? A lot. The Maxwell earbud headphones are comfortable and stay in your ear, unlike most other earbuds. The sound fidelity is well above average. I do not believe Coby claims this model to possess active sound isolation, but the way the buds fit into your ear goes a long way toward limiting noise and enabling you to keep your volume set at a comfortable level. Although they are described as being for MP3 players, I use them with my laptop with excellent results. All in all, they're a great buy.
