Digital camera reviews of Coby CX-96 All Weather Sport PLL AM/FM Radio with Arm BandDigital camera Review: Average quality product at a low price Summary: 3 Stars
This radio literally shouts from the roof-tops - you get what you pay for. After I received this phone, it worked for only 5 min. After that it refused to pick up any of the stations. Fortunately, Amazon.com's return policy allowed me to swap it for a new one.
CX-96 is one of the many inexpensive FM radios around. I found its FM reception quality just about satisfactory, but not too great. The earphones that came bundled with the radio were of the same quality as what you get for in-flight entertainment. I quickly discarded them and started using my iPod earphones instead. Although the radio boasts of 10 presets, you can only access them sequentially. That is, if you are on preset# 5 and wish to jump to preset#2, you need to go from 5 to 10 to 1 before reaching 2. Quite inconvenient for station-surfers. The device does not really switch-off ever. It keeps showing the current time. I found that this can be quite draining on the 2-AAA batteries. I did not use the radio for several days and today found that the batteries had zonked out by themselves.
I now feel that I should have shelled a few more bucks and got a sony or philips one.
Digital camera Review: Avoid! Summary: 1 Stars
What makes a radio a 'Sport' radio? Does the mere fact that it will fit in your pocket or come with a terrible armband (which broke after 10 days) qualify? In my mind a 'Sport' radio must have one very important feature: a timing mechanism. Now while that missing feature makes me miss my old Sony, I don't mind it missing because if they had added it they would have screwed it up as much as they did the rest of the Radio.
I won't bore you with a long rant about a crappy radio which really isn't worth talking about which I only do in hopes of preventing you from wasting your money.
Lowlights:
When you take out the battery to replace it all your presets are gone.
Presets are a terrible pain to set.
It became increasingly difficult to change the station and volume requiring more and more pressure on the buttons each time.
Reception is pathetic. With my old sport radio I had extremely good reception around my neighborhood. With this 'sport' radio I get extremely good reception of 4 or 5 stations at once! When I listen to 100.9 I hear 98.1, 97.3 and 102.9 as well! Not to mention the all static all the time station.
On AM it is actually a lot better. The only other station that bleeds into it is the aforementioned all static station.
In conclusion... learn from my mistake and navigate away from this item immediately.

We bought this for our GYM time but this has got a really bad reception and sound qaulity. Not recommended.
Digital camera Review: Believe the Bad Reviews Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased the Coby CX-96 to use for local broadcasts in my gym -- basically to hear the broadcasts from the TV monitors. I figured, despite the criticisms I read here, that it would be good enough for my purposes. It isn't.
My gym broadcasts on three channels. This unit picks up only one of these and it receives it over a wide range of its different digital channels. I'm still using it as the sound is okay and the one channel it gets is useful for me, I guess, but I am basically shocked that the product is as poor and ineffective as it has turned out to be. I've also found the arm band to be completely useless. It's not strong enough to hold onto my arm. If you tried to make a bad product, this would be it.
It's not a good value at any price. If you get one for free, you might consider keeping it.
Digital camera Review: Cheap and it shows. Summary: 1 Stars
Radio could not lock on to a very strong FM signal for more than a few seconds at a time. ANY movement broke the signal. Even when the signal was locked on to the reception and volume was not was useable!
