Just as title says it is simple and it does cool the computer. It is a simple foam lift that props up the computer to get it off the surface so it can get a better airflow. It works for me, my Toshiba Satellite would sometimes turn itself off due to thermal overload. Now it is noticeably cooler to the touch and I don't have a problem anymore. It also angles the laptop 8 degrees (angle) and makes it more easy to see the keyboard as well as putting the screen a little higher (2 in.) for better viewing. It's just basic but it gets the job done without all the fans and lights and whistles that some other coolers offer. I'll bet it cost all of 3 cents to make but the price when I got it was under $7 so I feel Okay about that. I haven't had any problem with the laptop slipping off the pad and falling as others have noted but I'm not too randy with my computer, it sits there just fine. It's not good for holding on your lap but works nice on a table as I use it. I accidentally ordered two so I'll give one to someone and ask them to review it at a later date. A stupid piece of rubber that is so small you laptop is balancing on it. It could have been a cool design if it supported the outer edges of the laptop, with airflow underneath. This pad is definitely made for using a laptop on a desk or table. It accomplishes its purpose at an affordable price. It is small (approximately 10 or 11" at the wide end). The only downside is that with my 15" laptop, centering the pad underneath partially covers the fan opening. Not a huge problem - I manage to work around it. A side note on the seller: In my seller review, I mentioned that one corner of the pad was slightly squashed, probably from packing/shipping. I noted that it wasn't bad enough to warrant return/exchange. About a week after leaving the comment, I received an unsolicited replacement from Handstands. For that alone, they now deserve a 6-star rating.
