Digital camera reviews of Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced Full Tower Case with SuperSpeed USB 3.0 (RC-932-KKN5-GP)

Digital camera Review: 9 out of 10
Summary: 4 Stars

Just got this case to use in building a SOHO liquid cooled system based on an ATX board. Here is what I can tell you so far:

Pros - The fans are REALLY quiet. You can't hear them but they do move a lot of air. They all include 3-pin and Molex adapters. Nice set of header wires to attach to the motherboard. Plenty of room to work in and get at the CPU backplate. EATX server boards do fit. I even test-fit an old Nocona board - the mounting holes line up but of course the memory slots sit over the CPU opening. But it does fit. It's nice to have a ton of front ports for sound, USB, FW, etc. The 5.25" bays are easy to access. The 3.5" trays are a little spare but that would work to your advantage since they are almost like a skeleton around the drive to facilitate airflow. Not sure how a 3.5 to 2.5 adapter would work, but I think it should not be a huge issue if you are going to mount SSD's into the 3.5" bays. It's easy to get at the opposite side as well. You'll also have a ton of options for liquid cooling, fan modding althernatives, internal radiators, tubing pass-thru, dual PSU's, you name it. I think the sheet metal is heavy duty enough for most users. You can put a fan under the case to ventilate a bottom-mounted PSU or radiator. Bottom mounting a PSU ought to let you have even a deep 1kW or 1.5kW supply without issue, as there is a moving support plate to accomadate depth.

Cons - There are a few sharp edges, but everything does line up quite nicely. Where's the fun without a little risk anyway? I suppose if you are doing the multi-GPU thing 7 slots might not be enough. I can't comment on that. If you want the 230mm fans in colors you may be disappointed, but you can swap them out for multiple 80mm fans if you want a certain color. The triple SLI crowd might want 10 slots instead of 7. I can't speak to that. You might also encounter an issue if you use an EATX boad with side-facing ports as is popular these days. That could be tight, but not impossible.

Final thoughts - I think this system has a better price point than, say, Lian Li. Yeah, they are heavier-duty, but I've hit some razor sharp edges on those as well. They offer a few extra modding options but not 2x to 3x the price worth, in my opinion. It's a great case and it's wide so it should handle tall CPU coolers as well. They also include the usual scew assortments, a CPU 8-pin extender, and even a SATA cable to the ESATA port on the top of the front case.

Follow Up After Install:

Installed an ATX board in this system. Added a 4-bay Addonics 5.25 to 4x 2.5 HD drive array. Koolance 5.25" combo cooling unit. Koolance 120mm radiator and fan on the top. The 5.25" bays have nice click-locks that work. 3.5" adapter bay lined up nicely for my floppy. The 3.5" internal HD bays work well. The PCI clamps take a little fiddling with to understand how they lock and unlock, and I would not count on them for hundreds of duty cycles as I think the plastic might fatigue over a lot of uses. The added depth of the case makes it easy to install right-angle SATA connectors on newer MB's. Tons of options for liquid cooling as to how you want to arrange your PSU vs. pump/resevoir/radiator setup. The width of the case makes it easy to work in, and would no doubt handle the tallest air coolers out there. It sure makes liquid cooling easier as the bends are gentler. Back panel access to the CPU bracket is nice as well.

Bottom Line - I will migrate my other 2 work computers to this case type over the next couple of months. Price/performance ratio is unbeatable for my use.
