Digital camera reviews of Corsair CMPSU-750TX 750-Watt TX Series 80 Plus Certified Power Supply compatible with Intel Core i7 and Core i5Digital camera Review: Excellent power supply;plenty of cables;wish it was modular Summary: 4 Stars
I only have one "negative" on this Corsair 750w power supply, so let's get that out of the way first.
Negative Point:
* The power supply is not modular, which means that any unused cables are going to have to find a place to be shoved into your case. If space is a concern and you don't have a lot of internal devices then you might want to go with a modular design that allows you to remove cables that you don't need.
Positive Points:
* Quiet operation. This power supply is designed to fit in a case that has power at the top or bottom. You just flip it over to accomodate and with four screws it's securely in place and ready to go.
* Plenty of cables. And seriously, I mean plenty of cables. You've got additional PCIE cables for those newer video cards that often require two power inputs of their own; the four main cables for your motherboard (depends on the motherboard of course); and plenty of additional power for hard drives, optical drives, cpu fans, and more. I had two hard drives, one optical drive, three fans, four motherboard connections and two for the video card and STILL had three cables that were completely unused that I had to shove into an open drive bay.
For the price this is a great starter power supply for cases that you don't have a lot of internal components in - but if you have space limitations I would recommend a modular design - this is why I am giving this product FOUR stars.
Digital camera Review: Fantastic PSU Summary: 5 Stars
The ONLY way this PSU could be better is it it had modular cables. Everything else about it is Fantastic.
Digital camera Review: Fine so far Summary: 5 Stars
I got this to replace what I thought was a dying Fortron PSU, but it turned out my motherboard was the problem. I really haven't had too much opportunity to put it through its paces, but it worked well the few weeks I used it.
It's big...bigger than the 550w I replaced. It barely fit in my ATX case. 4 PCI-E plugs is a good thing...makes it a little more future-resistant. It's very quiet...not silent, but quiet.
Fit and finish are excellent. Engineering, build and materials appear to be top notch. The only thing that would improve this PSU is modular cables, but a few zipties and some strategy and it's not an issue. Just be prepared to use a good slice of case space for the extra cabling. If you're cramming as it is, this may not be your PSU. Hey, at least short cables won't be an issue.
Super quick shipping.
This is how Amazon should be!
Digital camera Review: First Time Installation Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the Corsair TX750W to replace an Antec 550HE that burnt out. I've never replaced a power supply unit before, but I got good results with this one. So here are some tips that may help you.
First, I would recommend that you measure the space inside your case before you buy this (or any) PSU. According to the Corsair website, this PSU measures 5.9"(W) x 3.4"(H) X 6.3"(L). During installation, I had to temporarily remove a fan and 2 DVD drives in order to get enough room to move it into position.
The Corsair's fan is big, but quiet. I had it pointing towards the middle of the case so that any hot air would be pulled out by one of the exhaust fans at the rear of my case. To be honest, though, the PSU didn't seem to generate much heat in the first place.
There are a lot of cables sticking out of the PSU, but it wasn't a big deal for me because I pretty much used 1 connector on each cable. In the end, I ended up not using 3 PCI-E cables. Since the PSU is NOT modular, you can't remove the extra cables, so I simply tied them up inside my case.
Overall, I am happy with the Corsair. If I upgrade my PC, I may keep it and hook up the new parts to it.
Current config:
Thermaltake Kandalf case w/ 4 fans
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 2.4 GHz
2 GB RAM
EVGA GeForce 7800 GT 256 MB
2 DVD-RW drives
2 SATA hard drives
Windows XP Pro SP3
Digital camera Review: First one defective, second one excellent. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought one from Amazon for a client's new core i7 920 build. The PC kept randomly shutting off. I replaced the PSU with my work computer's PSU and my client's computer worked perfectly. They were both Corsair TX750. I had to meet a deadline for my client's build and Amazon overnight shipped a replacement for me. Great customer service, will be doing more business again.
