Digital camera reviews of Creative Labs SB0570 PCI Sound Blaster Audigy SE Sound CardDigital camera Review: Good Sound Card Summary: 4 Stars
For the money its a great sound card. It is usually better than on board sound. I like the X-fi Fatality card the best but it cost a lot more though.
Digital camera Review: Good sound card at a good price Summary: 5 Stars
This is a good upgrade for someone using the onboard sound on their pc. I installed one of these for a user who was having difficulties with stuttering sound as she watched DVD's, (she is in our marketing dept., and does quality assurance).
The sound delivered via this card, watching DVDs, was excellent.
This is the card that I would buy for myself, (and might have to for my Vista upgrade).
Bottom Line: Much better sound than your onboard audio delivers, good price, and easy to install. NOTE: The software install takes a while and doesn't tell you what's going on. Avoid the urge to think it's done, and reboot. Other than that, a great product and I've installed these on Windows 2000 and XP systems without trouble. Vista, don't know.
Digital camera Review: Good value for the price! Summary: 5 Stars
Superb. I was using on board sound all these while, until one day I noticed that there is hissing and cracking sound, even when there is no music playing. I saw this $30 Audigy SE, decided to give it a try. Wow, the hissing sound is gone, totally. MP3 sounded 10 times better! Cool. Just like what the box said, it is a good upgrade from on-board sound. I 100% agree. If any one is on a budget, get this and you won't be disappointed.
The only con that I can find is the color coding of the audio jack on the card. It is all messed up. Green for speakers, which is correct. Normally pink is for microphone. Not the case. I spent 1 hour debugging my mic problem, only to find that the pink is output #3, and the blue jack is for line-in/mic. What a joke. Everything else is just superb!
Digital camera Review: Good, but beware Summary: 3 Stars
As others have said this is a good sound card. But beware that once you've installed the card, there's no going back. Installing the Audigy SE disabled my onboard sound permanently, even after physically removing the card and uninstalling its drivers. And I couldn't get the onboard sound back even after doing a System Restore in Windows XP! I was planning to go back to the onboard sound and use this card in a different computer, but once the card is installed it's a permanent commitment. Never thought I'd be legally married to a piece of computer hardware.
Digital camera Review: Great Product Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased this because I upgraded to Windows Vista and there is no driver for my onboard sound as of yet. So I hesitantly purchased this, and am very glad I did. Not only do I actually have sound again but it sounds alot better than my onboard did. Im sure the X-Fi and other high end cards sound better, but for the price, I highly reccomend this.
