Digital camera Review: Comparison of Vado, Flip & Kodak's Zi6
Summary: 5 Stars

I have purchased all three of these little high def camcorders. I started with the Flip Mino which had good picture quality, but ran into serious problems. I could not get any of the 3 units I purchased to charge through the USB port. Nor could I get any one of them to download the images. I spent a lot of time with their support only to find that none of their solutions worked. So I finally gave up and sent all three camcorders back.

The Kodak Zi6 Pocket camera is bigger and more "clunky" I didn't like the image quality at all. The camera cannot focus in very closely, so they provided a CU switch. But that allows you ONLY to shoot from about 2 inches away! Made it almost worthless. The memory in the camera is so small you have to buy a much larger card, which raises the price tag. At least you can take it out for downloading to your computer. Over all, I liked this camera the least.

I found out about the Vado last, and have once again purchased 3 units. This little baby is awesome. It almost looks like a cell phone, so you can take candid videos of people and they almost never suspect that you have a high def camcorder.

The image quality is excellent, and the angle it shoots is very wide (compared to the other two camcorders). But don't use the digital zoom; it only reduces the quality of the image. Instead, just get closer to your subject. The lighting is a challenge with this camera (like all 3 of these cameras) and you have to be careful not to shoot any subject that is heavily backlit. But you can shoot indoors at night with available room lights, and even under fairly dark conditions if you use your light creatively.

The Vado has replaceable batteries, which the Flip did not, so when the battery runs out, you can just pop another in and keep on shooting. Whereas with the Flip there was no way to continue (or to get out the footage) without a several hours plugged into your laptop.

I have shot several hours of video with the Vado in a wide variety of situations and my love for this baby continues to grow. I only wish that I had found it first and saved myself some hassles. But at least I know what the competition has to offer and so I know I'm not missing anything.

Digital camera Review: Convenient but there are better options
Summary: 3 Stars

My daughter is turning 1 soon and so far, I've been using my Panasonic point and shoot with standard def video to capture moments. I dealt with the poor quality because I couldn't bring myself to invest in an HD camcorder due to the cost (~$500 and up) and the fact that I would also need to buy a new beefy computer to process the AVCHD files. I looked at the Flip Mino for awhile but wrote it off due to the shakiness I saw in other people's videos, but after a couple of really bad quality videos with the Panasonic, I decided I really needed something better. Between the Flip Mino and Vado, I chose to go with the Vado due to larger storage, larger viewing screen, and lower price. I was happy and anxiously awaiting for my Vado's arrival until I started reading up on point and shoots that do HD video now. To top it off, my friend had just bought the Canon SD780IS and it looked pretty sweet...extremely portable, fantastic Canon quality photos, and seemingly fantastic HD videos. So I went and bought a Canon SD780 as well and as soon as my Vado arrived, I did a side by side test shoot. The Vado didn't come close to the Canon SD780. In low light, the colors on the Vado were drab and the sound quality was horrible. Voices sounded far away and were tinny. The Canon, however, produced videos with more color and the sound came out as if people were right in front of the mic. The thing that topped off my decision to get rid of the Vado and keep the Canon was that the Vado froze up on me on the third boot up. Vaya con dios Vado. I really sat on this decision for awhile trying to rationalize getting another point and shoot, but in the end, the Canon won out with it's higher quality and then having a still camera is just another bonus.

Digital camera Review: Convenient, Great picture
Summary: 5 Stars

As a mom of two young kids I didn't want to lug out my big video camera to catch every moment. The Vado is small enough to keep in my purse. It takes good video and is very easy to use. I would recommend it to my friends. Recently, Good Housekeeping rated the top three pocket camcorders and this one came out on top!!

Digital camera Review: Cool Tool!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am an electronic junkie and love gadgets. The Vado HD is easy to use, producing a surprisingly clear video. Ease of use is there in spades. I find using it so easy that I actually use it! Unlike the expensive Sony camcorder that stays in the closet cause it's too big and where's the charger and the tape, etc.,etc. Connecting to the computer couldn't be easier and the software which is built in is intuitive and again, not to overuse the word, EASY! I recommend the Vado to anyone who wants quality captured memories. It is not as good as the big brother recorders out there in terms of quality, of course it isn't, but it is not a toy and will provide nice video quality. I did purchase a tripod for it to stabelize the images I am trying to capture. Buy it, throw in in the car or your purse and keep it handy at home, you will find you use it a lot.

Digital camera Review: Cool! need a little stabilization
Summary: 4 Stars

This is one of the cool products I own! really nice the image quality is amazing
it needs a image stabilization ability which makes it a little trouble while taking videos while walking
Otherwise this is a worthy device. A must Have
