Creative definitely created a gem. It's perfect for basic high quality recording. The software that comes with it is OK for most purposes. If you need some fancy editing done and then compress the video, I'd recommend Vegas Pro 9 (I know it's an overkill for most folks)or Mpeg Video Wizard. I used it a few times to join the clips, add fancy transitions and convert the video to Mpeg 2. From Mprg 2, you can convert the video to xvid, etc with any free video encoder.Digital camera Review: Creative Labs Vado 720P

After reading many reviews I purchased the Vado for home use, I was ready to buy the new Sony version as I own all Sony products and have always been pleased, but this time I spent the time to investigate. I was plesantly pleased with the performance and also purchased one for work which has worked out perfectly.

The software (as reported in several other reviews) leaves something to be desired in the editing arena. I had the Vado for about a month now. The video quality is impressive, it looks really cine-quality on my 37 inches LCD.
It is very simple to use, i had had no problems with it so far.
Also, the Western Digital WD TV HD Media Player can play back the video/sound without any problems.
Very good product so far.
Only recommendation, don't move too much, or the video would be very jumpy.

This mini camcorder is awesome! I bought it about 3 weeks ago and have used it to record all kinds of activities. It has 3 quality settings (2 HD) that allow you to expand the recording time from 2 hours to 4 hours to 8 hours. I use the 4 hour setting and the quality is excellent. The sound is very clear. The only time it wasn't was when we recorded at the beach so the noise of the surf sometimes was louder than the softer voices. I definitely recommend this product and the price was excellent too.
