Digital camera reviews of Creative Zen 4 GB Portable Media Player (Black)Digital camera Review: Absolutely love my Zen! Summary: 5 Stars
I selected the Creative Zen for its versatility, and I have not been disappointed. With a bit of a struggle when I first received this product (instructions are very basic and not comprehensive), I quickly learned how to load music, videos and my calendar and list of contacts. The sound on it is amazing for such a small device, and the options make it easily personalized. The best part is that it has the SD slot to expand memory, so unlike many MP3 players, when your player is full and can't hold any more, you have the SD card option. Videos and pictures have excellent clarity, and this device is about the size of a credit card, only a little bit thicker. I would highly recommend a Creative Zen to anyone.
Digital camera Review: Again with the white screen!!!!! Summary: 1 Stars
Yes if you have read any of these reviews you have read about the white screen of doom. I also read them before I purchased mine but thought I had better luck then most, well I don't, so you might not either. Plus it makes it worse because mine waited until after the warranty was up, I had bought mine back in March and it busted on me this Aug. Really dissapointing. I walked in and found it with the white screen and I couldn't get it to turn on or off, and now it won't do anything.....just a black screen. It won't even be recognized when I plug it into the USB port on the computer. I am really upset because I paid over $100 for this player like six months ago.........
Digital camera Review: Almost Perfect Summary: 4 Stars
There are a few things I am not happy about.
- Radio has no record option (really? like I"m going to bootleg radio in this day & age?)
- No resume for media played from the SD card (I had a Creative nano and it had resume for files dragged to the device, don't understand how they missed this)
- Screen can be hard to read in the sun, should have included a white theme
But don't get me wrong, it's a good device. I use it daily and it is solid. Works great in Ubuntu linux with gnomad2.
Digital camera Review: Almost Perfect - Better Than iPods Summary: 4 Stars
From iPod mini -> iPod Shuffle -> Zune 30G -> Sansa Clip -> Zen Stone -> Zen.
Pros:
1. Size and price
2. Screen is very bright, even at 50%
3. Pretty decent battery life compared to HD based players - not sure how it compares to ipod nano or zune 4/8G
4. Drap and drop (plays mp3 and WMA)
5. Uses regular miniUSB for power and sync (can charge using your RAZR, Blackberry chargers, etc)
6. Uses standard SD cards (none of this mini, micro SD stuff)
7. FM tuner/voice recorder, photo viewer
Cons:
1. Need better video codecs so you dont have to convert. Not sure why but the converter converts to WMV but it won't play other WMV files without converting it first??
2. Software will not let you pick which features to install (it just installs all of it - I only needed the video converter)
3. It won't let you combine both internal memory and SD content into one big list. You have to play off the SD card separate (there is separate menu for browsing the SD card)
Definitely pay the extra money for both the silicone cases and screen protector. The screen protectors comes in a pack of 3 (messed up the first one - trick to placing them - start at one end and place a toothpick at the other in case you need to remove it to realign it. Once it goes down, its hard to get off without bending a corner)
