Digital camera Review: Another satisfied Creative Labs customer

I've had my Zen for about a month and love it! It's even motivated me to run the stairs every day at lunch. First off I've had two other Creative Labs MP3 players (MUVOs) so I'm familiar with the product name. Before I even received my Zen I bought a screen protector, skin, armband, AC and car charger package from a third party vendor for a great price. I also got a cassette adaptor for playing music in the car (the FM transmitter sucks). When I got my Zen I put on a pair of latex gloves, wiped the screen and put the "protection" on. It looks great. The software is very easy to use but I used it AND Windows Media Player to download music. First I had to clean up my music and video files on my computer. After that- piece of cake. I found a free program online where I can download YouTube videos and put them on my Zen in two simple steps. This probably is no big secret to you cognizanti, but it's great to know I can watch those stupid farting videos over and over wherever I am with my Zen. The earbuds are marginal so I got a better pair. Both audio and video qualities are EXCELLENT!!! Battery life is very good. I've had to reset my player once due to my own fault. The creative zen is just an average music player. Sound quality was decent, but no where as sharp compared to the Ipod. The one thing I did like about it was the bright and clear screen, so watching clips and movies looked great on the creative zen. Uploading the movies were a little bit of a hassle. The movie converter that came with it did a good job, but was just way too slow. I tried to use an external program to convert my videos and then store the video on an sd card to load it into the player's sd slot, but the whole thing just froze and I had to reset. So I don't think there is any way of going around it except using the video converter that came with the player. Unless there is a way and I don't know about it yet... any advice?? Anyway, on to the review, the FM player has horrible reception! Most of the channels had a lot of static and the reception never goes up to more than 2 bars. It's a nice extra, but I would not recommend any one buying the creative zen for the FM player. Battery life for the player was great. I could listen to it for a week and only need to charge once. The voice recorder was decent, but as mentioned on most reviews, don't click buttons while you're recording or you'll hear a lot of annoying clicking noises on playback. The SD extension worked fine, but may freeze up at times when loading more than 20MB.
Overall, the creative zen was just average. I would definitely recommend it for the budget minded people because of the price and fun features but if you're a hardcore music critique than stay away.

This is a versatile, compact media player. I am very satisfied with the product that I purchased. The quality of sound is excellent. The video on the Creative Zen is excellent also. Creative also offers accessories, and I purchased a leather cover for less than $10.00!! It comes with a small charger that has to be routed through a computer USB port, which was not very convenient for me. You may want to consider purchasing the separate charger, but I discovered that it uses the same type as my cell phone. Overall, this is a wonderful product, and I am very pleased that I selected this after my comparative shopping.
