I've only had this MP3 player for about a month and don't use it daily, but rather for yard work or when doing tedious tasks of long duration. So far it works great and is easy to use and the little joystick works very well. 2 GB allows for hours and hours of music or audio book storage, but if you have a large library and want to put it all in your player, 2 GB probably won't suffice. The screen is pretty bright but cannot be seen in direct sunlight, so if you're outside, a shift into the shade is necessary to see the menu. The software provided is adequate and it's easy to add music or reformat and start over.
The only problem I have had is that when using the neck strap and performing a task that involves any sort of bending over (almost everything does), the player swings and gets in the way (and could easily be damaged). I'm sure this issue is not unique to the Zen. Putting it in a pocket still leaves you with the swinging earbud cord to contend with. My solution has been to drop the player and earbud cord down the neck of my t-shirt. Hopefully perspiration won't kill the unit (it hasn't so far). In cooler weather, when more than a t-shirt is being worn, this obviously won't be an issue.

The promotion and advertising for this product states that this would download 1000 songs. Knowing that some songs are longer than others etc., I figured that I'd be able to load at least 900+. However, in downloading from my computer, I could only load 426 songs. Naturally being quite upset, I contacted the Creative Company, and they said: "Music files encoded at higher bitrate are much larger than music files encoded at lower bitrate, thus it reduces the number of songs a player can store". They then talked about 32 versus 64 bitrate etc. To me this is something close to false advertising, because NOTHING whatsoever is ever said about bitrate, and that as a caveat, know your bitrate etc. etc. Hence, I could only load 426 songs. This is Creative's major error. Had I known about this, I would not have ordered a 2 GB player. SO, I have ordered a 4 GB player, and intend to send back the 2 GB player I originally ordered and received. (SHAME ON CREATIVE FOR NOT STATING THIS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION). However, the player itself is good quality and performs quite well, and had some problems loading the software.
