I've used several of these switches and they have performed flawlessly every time. I've never once heard a noise from any of the three switches employed around my main office. This is a really nice product if you're adding devices to an existing gigabit network, or even to create a mini-gigabit network on a 10/100 infrastructure between a few machines. I needed to add a couple of ports to my home router, and this switch did the trick. While I bought it because of the price, quality, and features -- especially the 10/100/1000 options, I'll admit that I feel better about my choice knowing that is an energy saver as well. I bought this unit to replace my older 10/100 switch. Now my entire network is gigabit.
The unit itself works great. It meets published specs. The unit itself does not get overly warm even with all ports being used. I also like the small green lights (as opposed to the bright blue LEDs of my D-Link DIR-655 router, also great) which is less obtrusive.
My gripe is not with the equipment itself but with Amazon. [...]
Great unit though and well worth the price even at the price I bought it for.

Unsuitable even for home use; gets its low power consumption by sucking power through the Ethernet cable from the pc, in some cases dropping the voltage down below what is necessary the energize (i.e., 'turn on') the circuitry. Is a death knell in particular to motherboard LAN's; you'll need an isolator on the Ethernet cable to keep this switch from leeching power like a Vampire!
