When I bought my Nikon D40, it came with a Nikkor 18-55mm kit lens and a telephoto zoom. I needed something that would let me get up close, and would let me photograph an entire tree without backing up to the other side of the street. This lens adapter fills the bill. It includes a macro ring that you can use without the wide-angle. On the downside, the optics are not the greatest. There is a noticeable amount of spherical aberration and color smearing around the edges. Usually, I use it to zoom in on the subject and crop the outside of the image away.
