Digital camera reviews of DLO TransPod All-in-One Car Solution for iPod (Black)

Digital camera Review: Disappointed
Summary: 1 Stars

I found that although the transpod fits well in my car, and is easily accessible, its FM reception is awful. I have a Sonnet unit that I use that is much, much better.

Digital camera Review: Doesn't work for '07 Honda Odyssey
Summary: 3 Stars

Our iTrip just doesn't work anymore so I've been trying to find a FM transmitter to replace it. After reading reviews for all the items on Amazon, I gave up and went to a local store. There are so many mixed reviews that I finally decided I might as well just randomly pick one! So I did. That one didn't work at all (Monster iCarPlay), so I returned it and bought this one on recommendation from the customer service rep. Out of the package, it's kind of gangly and ackward. There are two different arms that can be configured to supposedly suit your needs in your car. There are joints that can be bent and tighted to stay in a certain position. Sounds great, but it just didn't work for my car's configuration. We have a Honda Odyssey and the car outlets are very low and right below a 'drawer' that opens with two cupholders. And no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get these adjustable arms to get it beyond or around the cupholders when they are open. I take that back - I think I did configure them to swing to the side (to the left) of the cupholder drawer, but then the whole unit was too lop sided and would lean - physically turn due to gravity. So that didn't work either. So in the end, for me to use this, I would have to give up two cupholders.
And I'm desperate enough to find a fm transmitter that works that for a while yesterday I thought that maybe it was okay to give them up. But the unit sits so low (in my car) because of where the outlet plugs are that I cannot see the ipod when it is docked. So I have to lift the ipod all the way out of the dock to see the song/play the playlist/whatever and it just doesn't make sense. I felt unsafe driving like that. And while I was taking the ipod in and out of the dock, the power outlet was kind of touchy - would lost power easily. While just driving, it even jostled enough to lose power, thus losing the signal and not getting playback. Madening! I do have to say that it was easy to find a signal and for a few minutes, I thought I was in luck. But it just doens't work with my car's layout. If you don't have an Odyssey, it's worth a try.

Digital camera Review: Don't buy if you live in NJ!
Summary: 3 Stars

I give this product 3 stars because it is pretty decent quality. However, it's performance depends on where you live. In NJ, there is SO MUCH radio traffic that interference is unavoidable at least in my experience. I get static the majority of the time, even using the only open frequency I can find on the dial. I have managed to find a reasonably clean channel near work and another near home, so I switch channels during my commute (a very smart feature of this unit, I must admit). However, I almost ALWAYS get static with the unit. The static is not totally unbearable, but annoying. I'm sure this device is fantastic in less developed areas with less crowded radio dials.

Digital camera Review: Don't buy this...
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this as an option to play my ipod in my car. It wasn't a good buy and didn't work well. It also didn't really fit nicely into my cigarette lighter so I don't use it at all.

Digital camera Review: Don't get this one!
Summary: 1 Stars

Don't get this unit. I purchased it because my other unit allows the iPod to float around the car, and I thought it would be good to have it mounted firmly. However, it has such a weak transmission, I have severe to moderate static at all times. I know it is a signal strength or interference issue because, when I pull into a covered structure (garage, tunnel, etc.) the static clears, and sound quality is fair. If you need a transmitter, I would recommend a Kensington 33199 Digital FM Transmitter, it works wonderfully.
