Digital camera reviews of Dell Axim X51v - Handheld - Windows Mobile 5.0 - 3.7" color TFT ( 480 x 640 ) - Bluetooth, Wi-Fi

Digital camera Review: Awesome Product
Summary: 5 Stars

This Pocket PC is really good, I use it to do my powerpoint presentations, I can use pocket word, acrobat reader, pocket excel and pocket powerpoint. I can watch divx, mpeg, avi and wav movies, and hear my mp3's. I can even watch jpeg's at the same time, because it has multitask capabilities. It also has two card readers (SD and SD), so your capacity con go up to 12 GB in total. It wireless capabilities are very good also. You can find all kinds of cool software at low prices. Please note that you can just plug a little cable, and that cable to an external monitor/projector and voila!!, everything on the pocket pc screen will be seen in the projector. The processor speed will go down a little bit.
If you are a Pro, you need this, if you are a student, you need this too.

Digital camera Review: Awesome x51v
Summary: 5 Stars

This is by far a superior machine to all others out there... If you are familiar with previous PocketPCs than you know what it is to loose all your applications and data because of a full battery drain, and then having to restore from activsync backup which could take hours. Well, the Axim x51v is a giant step forward with the applications and data storage being permanent, even with a total battery drain. This in itself make the machine awesome. I have never had any of the problems anyone else has had on these reviews... (I did the activsync fix right out of the box.) It took a few tries to get bluetooth to work but it now works great. Works fast, clear and bright screen, easy use, permanent memory, etc... If you read a bad review, in my opinion, they are just nitpicking. Awesome machine!!!

Digital camera Review: Axim X51v for studying Japanese
Summary: 5 Stars

Most of these reviews are old now, but here I am in 2010, I just bought one of these and have had it a few months. I bought mine after reading a lot about using PDAs to study Japanese, and thought I'd comment about that for others with similar interests. If you look around, you can find a lot of info about using these things for studying Japanese.

I've got Windows Mobile 6.1 on mine, and I am pleased as punch with everything. If you're used to playing and dabbling with computers, you'll be enjoying this machine quickly, I find mine handy on a daily basis even though I use it almost exclusively for Japanese study. Definitely get the latest ActiveSync. It's a snap now using my PDA with my W7 laptop.

So how does it do for studying Japanese? Great! I installed KingKanji and I use that every day, I can handwrite the kanji and it gives immediate feedback on the strokes I draw. I like the jitterbits dictionary, and ookii's input software is amazing. There are lots of dictionaries and other software that you can get however. I got everything that Declan has to offer but ultimately don't find it very useful, I use the free stuff a lot more. And of course, I can listen to music or JapanesePod101 audio while I'm using it! Reading in bed on the Axim until the wee hours though is kinda hard on the eyes, get a kindle or something for that.

Since I'm planning to go to Japan at some point, I'm also getting all the ebooks, travel info/software, anything related to going to Japan that I can find. There is so much free (most good, but by no means all!) software for these things. If you scrounge around the Internet, it's just amazing how much free software that you can find to play with on this thing.

Anyway, I really, really like this machine, I had no idea how much I would like it until I got it. I don't think you can beat using one of these PDAs to practice your kanji, things like that. I happened to get mine very cheaply, and the lady threw in a lot of goodies, so I am so happy with my purchase, how did she stand to part with it??

Now I just wonder, where have all the PDAs gone? I really don't want a smart phone! But don't just rush out and buy this, if you are thinking it might help you to study Japanese or some other language, do some research and read reviews, and google for studying your subject with a PDA. I can just tell you that so far, mine has become indispensable to me and if something happens to it I will buy another one as soon as possible!

Digital camera Review: BEWARE - Stay away from Dell.
Summary: 1 Stars

Dell sent me not one but three of these Axims, until I received one that worked properly...for a few months. After numerous calls to people I could barely understand (After 14 calls in 3 months I gave up), an obsurd amount of visits to their website (their web based support equals intense stress) I decided it's not worth the heartache to fight Dell to fix it or supply a 4th one that might work. I also see on Craigslist many new Dell products people are trying to unload, including many laptops and Axims, no surprise here. Their customer service is deplorable, bar none.

Digital camera Review: Be careful when buying this item
Summary: 4 Stars

Be careful when buying this item, I wanted to buy this Axim X51v but i tried to buy it from a seller, this seller scammed me with the older model Axim x51 which doesn't even have the same processor, no wifi, no video card processor, not as much rom memory neither the 64mb.... my friend X51V rocks but careful... because the X51 is just a paperweight
