Digital camera reviews of Delphi SA10001 XM SKYFi BoomboxDigital camera Review: If you like radio, you'll love XM and the SKYFi Boombox Summary: 5 Stars
My wife got me the SKYFi Boombox for Christmas so I could listen to the radio while I "played" on the computer at night. I hate using the term, but it ROCKS! I was somewhat worried that picking up a signal would be difficult because the receiver for the unit is so small and I live in a mountainous region but the sound quality and channel selection is superb. In 4 months of nightly usage I have experienced no breakup whatsoever.
Another nice feature is that you can pop out the face of the boombox and take it to your car or truck if it is XM equipped. I haven't used this feature but if you have to drive long distances this feature just might save your sanity.
Word of warning however. XM has taken some heat for the adult content on some of their stations such as the comedy channels (which are great) as well as some of the heavy metal & hard rock stations. The language doesn't bother me, but if you have children and do not want them to hear the more colorful side of the english language then I recommend going with the family plan that XM offers to filter out the naughty bits.

I also got a boombox with the high pitched sound. I thought I was going to have to return either the boombox or the receiver, or both, but from the research I did over the net, it looks like the problem is across the board (something wrong technology wise that I really can't explain). And as the previous poster stated, Delphi doesn't seem to acknowledge this problem. At least that's what several posters on an xm message board had stated. Before checking around on the net, I tried calling Delphi and ended up having to leave a messgage. And of course when they called back it was while I was at work. Since I found out that this is most likely an unfixable problem, I didn't bother calling back. Not to mention that it seems like when you call in to technical support you will not get through to speak with somebody and will end up having to leave a message for someone to call back.
In most cases it seems, as with mine, you almost don't notice the "whining" and eventually don't as long as you're listening to a music station and have the volume around the setting 12 - for me, a comfortable setting, about the same volume level as I have on my tv. If I had my boombox here at work where I would have it set on a fairly low volume level, it would definitely be annoying and I probably wouldn't be able to get used to it.
Digital camera Review: It's pretty good I guess Summary: 3 Stars
Bought this for my boyfriend who has XM. He seems to really enjoy it and takes it with him everywhere. The first time we used it the XM transmitter thing got stuck in the speaker unit and I had to pry it out. Since then though it has given no troubles. I find it a little cumbersome and bulky in shape. So far though, he's liking it and that's what matters. I didn't like how the cord coils around an inside component that is covered by a removeable plate on the bottom. I think the design is a little difficult.
Digital camera Review: Its ok if its what youve got... Summary: 3 Stars
When I first got this boombox I was a little disappointed. It works fine for what it is but there is not much in the way of any controls to improve the sound. Actually all there is, is a volume knob thats a bit small & not very precise. You can go from quiet to loud in a fraction of movement. Theres no tone control at all so its a bit flat. The covering for the speakers is sort of flimsy so dont look at it too hard or it may shred.
You have to take the battery cover off to plug in the anttenae & to get the XM unit out you ( or I do anyway ) have to push down & in just right on the top portion of the radio unit to make it release.
Overall, if you get it for a good price, I mean a really good price, & you dont expect too much then its certainly usefull.
I have a Roady XT also that I use with an old Lenoxx Sound AM/FM radio cassette player that works much better with the FM transmitter than the Delphi & boombox combo...
Digital camera Review: Keeps on Kicking Summary: 5 Stars
I bought an XM Boombox about a year ago (when they were about $150!). I am a house framer and this unit is taken out everyday and cranked at top volume at the job site. The sound is great, and I love that there are no commercials. Never any problem w/reception, although some of the homeowners are uneasy as I only listen to Squizz (an explicit channel, love it). I also have XM in 2 vehicles and in 2 docks in my house, love the XM. The only problem I have had with the unit, is I go through an A/C power cord about every 3 months, due to wrapping it up in cold weather, and general rough handling. Original boombox still works perfectly. I order A/C cords by the two's, about $6.00 each and change 'em out.
