Digital camera reviews of Digital Concept Professional Vertical Battery Power Grip for the Nikon D-200 Digitl SLR Camera

Digital camera Review: Beware of the AA adapter - great grip - but do not use withh AA batteries - may explode!
Summary: 3 Stars

Great grip - good buy:
I like the grip - good looking and functional.
I used the grip with the nikon battery for the first month or two - very happy - great product as promised.
Then, I wanted to carry the included battery insert for AA batteries to a shooting event, just in case I would run out of power. As soon as I inserted the batteries, three of them heated up excessively within a few seconds and one of them exploded before I was able to get them out of the battery case!
I certainly believed that I inserted the batteries somehow the wrong way, recharged and inserted them again - this time watching even more to do no mistake. Same result and three batteries went hot again.
After checking the problem closer and followed the wiring of the battery insert, I found out that this part is a total lemon - either the battery symbol was inprinted wrong or the wiring was wrong - it was created to short the batteries against another!
I do recommend the grip, but do not use the insert for AA batteries - or rewire the part yourself. Just use the grip with the Nikon batteries - this will give you anyway longer power.
The grip truly deserves five stars - I gave only three because of the malconstruction of the AA battery part and the three batteries I lost...
Buy the grip - you will be very happy with it.
Do not use the AA battery part - dangerous!
