Digital camera reviews of ETYMOTIC RESEARCH ER20BP High Fidelity Ear Plugs ( Clear )Digital camera Review: A great pair of backup plugs Summary: 4 Stars
I work in the concert business where the noise level can be painfully loud. I use custom fitted musicians ear plugs to bring the sound down to an acceptable level, but sometimes I forget to bring them with me. Luckily, these are cheap enough that I can stash a few pairs in various places (camera bag, tool kit, glove box, etc.), just in case. They're also great to give to friends or co-workers who find themselves without hearing protection.
The frequency response on these is great, and they're comfortable. The only reason I'm giving these 4 out of 5 stars is that I wish they cut out a few more decibels.
The case is great to keep them clean when stuffed in the bottom of a bag.
Digital camera Review: A little long for helmets... Summary: 3 Stars
I bought these for use on my motorcycle where I want to cut down the noise but not completely cut it out.
For that purpose these plugs are great, they fit very well, they dampen all sound but still keep you aware of your surroundings.
The problem is that they extend a little too far out of the ear because of this putting a helmet on or off is actually painful as the padding of the helmet catches on the plugs and pushes them in.
Once you get the helmet on they are unobtrusive and I'm only reminded that they're there if I turn my head at high speed which shifts the helmet a little putting slight pressure on the plug.
What really worries me is that due to the length of the plug, in a crash they may actually do some damage to the ear by getting forced in by the helmet.
These are great at bringing sound to a manageable level, but they are just too long for use in helmets.
Oh and tip can be extremely hard to grip and pull out if it gets wet, which it will from sweat if you're riding in the summer.
Digital camera Review: Affordable hearing protection for the music lover. Summary: 5 Stars
Etymotic is certainly well know for high quality audio gear, however I'm certainly impressed how inexpensive these were. This is one of the best prices I found. They do appear authentic, of good quality, and come with a small plastic case.
As a warning, these do go very deep within the ear canal, and as such they may be uncomfortable for those not used to them. It can also take a little fussing to get them how you want them, but that's the rub.
Digital camera Review: Awesome. Summary: 5 Stars
I like these a lot. probably not the best for shotgun ranges, that isn't their purpose. I go to shows and play shows with this bad boys and they are awesome! You can still hear things clearly, they are just lower. Love them!
Digital camera Review: Better than foam. Summary: 5 Stars
These earplugs were wonderful while I still had them. They lasted me about a year before the case started falling apart on my keychain... and then I lost one. They're pretty comfortable for long-use, they're alright for concerts as well as a noisy environments, and cheap to replace (why I'm back here now). Eventually I'll invest in some flat-response form-fitted ones, but for now, these will do.
