Digital camera reviews of Emerson CKS3029 AM/FM Clock Radio with SmartSet Automatic Time Setting SystemDigital camera Review: Nice clock, great features, excellent price. Summary: 5 Stars
I got this clock as a gift, and could care less whether it sets itself or not, I've been setting clocks since I could walk, not a big deal. Most older clocks have battery back ups, so this is not a new feature.
The thing that makes this clock worth the price even without the smart set is the alarm settings. Dual alarm, and can be set for weekdays, weekends, and a couple other settings. So if you are like me, and have different schedules on the weekends you can set one for the weekdays, and one for weekends. bright display, suprisingly good sound, a good everyday clock, worth the price, whether it sets itself or not. Setting itself is a nice feature though. As many others have explained, this is not an atomic clock, nor does it advertise itself to be. Yes, it is a "Self Setting" Clock, pre-set at the factory defaulted to Eastern Standard time in the USA (Mine was 2 minutes behind my actual atomic clock). The set up is easy enough, plug it in, it set's itself, then press the time zone up or down for the time zone you are in, then forget about it for several years. This new version does have the correction for New daylight savings time settings (2007 versions). Again, check this out, even my mother (who is technologically challenged) loves this clock.

Digital camera Review: Nice clock/radio, but not as advertised. Summary: 3 Stars
As stated in other reviews, this is NOT an atomic clock. I knew that when I bought it (I wasn't looking for an atomic clock). It states it comes with the time preset. As the other reviewer mentioned, the preset time was incorrect when I received it. I had to reprogram it. The clock will reset itself for SHORT power outages, but failed to reset during a recent 4 hour outage.
However, I am happy with this clock/radio overall. I like the alarm features, and the radio sounds pretty good. The clock numbers are large and can be dimmed. It has a lot going for it. I just wish it would perform as advertised.
Digital camera Review: Nice features but if the basics don't work..... Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this clock knowing that emerson had a bad rep. But I figured I'd give them a shot and spend 7 more dollars on a new "high-tech" alarm clock than a decent everyday sony for $13. The features would be great and my complaints could be overlooked but I shouldn't have to overlook flaws in a product that I spent my hard earned money for.
I bought the clock yesterday and plugged it in for the first time today. It cycled through its' time setting phase and set the propper time day and year (yay!). But today is thursday and the clock insists that 8/31/06 is a sunday. My other complaint is that straight out of the box one of the led segments are dead. what kind of quality control lets this happen, obviously to a number of people (other reviewers)?
I sincerely wanted to like this clock but I now have a bad taste in my mouth called Emerson Research.
Digital camera Review: Nice features but poor quality Summary: 1 Stars
I really liked this clock at first; it sets itself automatically when you plug it in, it recovers after power outages, and it has nice flexible alarm settings. (By the way Theresa, weekend alarms can be turned on by holding the Alarm 1/2 button and pressing Alarm Mode).
However, after just 3 months the clock began acting erraticly; the display segments periodically fail and some buttons no longer work. Needless to say this impairs the usability. It is disappointing that a clock marketed as being so "high-tech" would fail so quickly, and I will not buy from Emerson Research again.
