Digital camera reviews of Emerson Radio Jumbo Triple Display Dual Alarm AM/FM Clock Radio with SmartSet TechnologyDigital camera Review: 'SmartSet' radio, NO support from Emerson Summary: 3 Stars
Disappointed with Emerson for not offering consumer support for the earlier model. The earlier version became obsolete when Daylight savings times were changed. The chip inside could not be changed for the new times. I contacted Emerson to see if there was an exchange program for the older models but to no avail. They should have at least offered the new models at reduced cost to their previous customers.
Digital camera Review: 100% Best Alarm Clock - No More Flashing 12:00 EVER! Summary: 5 Stars
Simply the best Alarm clock I have ever came across.
It will set the time on its own. It will tell you the day of the week on its own. It has 2 alarm that can be individually set. The alarms tell you if they are set or not set and for what time. Good radio quality. It also has a timed display off feature for if you don't want to sleep with any lights and come back on with a wave of your hand.
This is quite amazing. A little large in back, but well worth any size.
Digital camera Review: A Fair Alarm Clock Summary: 2 Stars
We loved the large orange digital display which we can both read without our glasses. Other plusses are:
1) The automatic Daylight Savings Time management
2) Easy setup
3) The dual alarms which we can be set for weekends and weekdays so now we don't have to change the time or turn off one alarm and activate the other for the weekend when we can sleep in a bit later
A minor minus is that it isn't actually connected to the NIST atomic clock.
The only big minus we have for it is the "Wave" function that seems to work randomly with some frequency. It will activate/deactivate when I know that nobody (or nothing) moved in the room, much less within its advertised angles/range. Sometimes even when we were behind the clock. It was so unreliable that I have neutered the motion sensor on the front with a very small piece of electrician's tape which is fortunately, practically invisible. If this doesn't work out, it'll be time to look for a similar alarm clock to replace this one that doesn't have this "Wave" function.
It has now been over a year since I purchased this clock. It still works fine without the "Wave" function that I neutered shortly after purchase due to its random nature. It's a great clock otherwise.
Digital camera Review: A great product with ease of use! Summary: 5 Stars
Had a earlier version of this clock and found the upgrades to be more convienient.
If you are looking for a Alarm Clock with multiple settings than look no further. The great thing is that you can set your alarm to go off Mon-Fri, Sat-Sun, or for the entire week. This way you can set the alarm to not go off on the weekends and just sleep in.
Like the fact than you can see your alarm time settings in full view on the display. Prior model didn't have this feature.
You won't be disappointed!
Digital camera Review: A great radio for those who sleep in the dark! Summary: 4 Stars
I went though several clock radios before I found this one. Most are so bright that they keep me up at night, or are bright enough to cast shadows in the room! Since the display turns itself off after 10 seconds (if you enable the feature) you aren't blinded when you roll over in the middle of the night and you're not watching the clock if you're having a bout of insomnia. My review is based on the 'auto off display' feature. If you don't enable that mode, this review may not have as much value to you. With that said, I like bullet points so I'll just put them out there.
-=THE GOOD=-
*Display can be configured to automatically turn off after 10 seconds
*You just need to wave your hand to turn on the display, so it doesn't need to be within your reach.
*It has dual alarms, and both alarm times are displayed all the time. No more forgetting to turn it on.
*I have mine set up for my early wake during the week, and my 'sleep in' on the weekends. I never have to touch the thing since everything is automatic.
*The beeping alarm ramps up in volume, so if you turn it off early on, it won't wake up your bed partner. If you sleep deeply, it will become loud enough to wake you up!
*The day of week display is nice. Great for those weird weeks with a day off in the middle-you know, when you wake up on Thursday and think it's Monday? Yeah.
*Some people don't like the factory-set time. You can tweak the time to your taste quite easily. It's pretty accurate. I haven't had to reset it since I bought it months ago.
-=THE NOT SO GOOD=-
There's not much here, just small things.
*I haven't been able to get the 'wave to snooze' feature to work-not at 6am, anyways.
*The wave sensor is pretty sensitive and it senses body heat. Sometimes if you roll over in the middle of the night or toss off your blanket, the display will light up.
*You can only configure the display for 'bright', 'dim', and the auto-off feature. When you wave your hand over the sensor, it comes on with full 3am eye-searing orange brightness.
*When holding down the alarm set buttons and setting the alarm times, the display stays on but it shuts off the second you release the button. When you're slowly setting those final ten minutes your alarm time, it can be annoying to have it go dark on you.
*An analog radio dial in 2009? Really?
*The snooze period is nine minutes instead of the usual seven. This can't be changed.
Like I said, they're just little annoyances. I would say this clock is an excellent buy and is the best one I have owned thus far!
