Digital camera reviews of Emerson Radio Jumbo Triple Display Dual Alarm AM/FM Clock Radio with SmartSet TechnologyDigital camera Review: Best clock in history Summary: 5 Stars
This is absolutely an amazing clock. I gave it to my wife and I'm jealous. It's so much better than my Sony. First of all, I can see it from any angle. The Sony has to be viewed dead on which means I have to lift my head from the pillow. That isn't easy at 5:30 am, especially on Monday. Next, what could be better when the radio goes off then to flick your hand in the air to shut it up? It's like being a magician. Finally, it can be set to be completely dark and then, with another flick of the wrist, it shows the time again. Everything should be this much fun. (as you can see, I don't get out much)
Digital camera Review: Better than the original Summary: 5 Stars
I have had one of these for years. This new one that I purchased for my wife, it doing all the same things plus more fun stuff. The wave feature, that some how only works for her, it just cool, helpful, and fun all in one. Great product!
Digital camera Review: Blessed simplicity Summary: 5 Stars
I have almost six months experience with this now, having picked it up for myself while out Christmas shopping last year. It's the kind of thing that's more impressive in person than in a picture online; I don't think I would have chosen this one if I hadn't actually seen it first.
The main things I love about this clock radio are the large buttons and number display. I'm very nearsighted, and never before in my life have I had a clock I could read from bed so easily without my glasses--no more scrunching to the edge of the bed, pulling the clock close and squinting. The numbers are almost unbelievably large. It's also very easy to memorize the position and feel of the on/off and sleep buttons. When it's dark and you're groggy, they're easy to find. My previous clock radio, which had a lot more features, had many small buttons which were almost flush to the top surface, and everything was the same silver color. It looked very snazzy, but I was always hitting the wrong button.
It's true that tuning the radio can be tricky, but I grew up with analog tuning and it wasn't too hard to get the knack back. If you have the patience, you can get pretty decent reception of surprisingly distant stations, especially AM stations at night. I'm down in the Philadelphia area, but can reliably get 740 AM in Toronto and 1030 AM in Boston, which can be more fun to listen to before bed than local radio. I use the sleep button pretty often, which turns the radio off in about 30 minutes. It's easy to reset for another 30 minutes. Because the stations I listen to at night will be hardly audible in the morning, I use the beeping alarm, which seems loud enough to me.
It's larger and heavier than you might expect, but it doesn't have a large footprint on your nightstand. It stands vertically and is kind of triangular at the base, so you can put in on a corner, leaving the rest of the surface free. The heft and shape of it make it hard to tip over--which is a good thing if you have a cat like mine, who likes to climb around our heads in the mornings. He hasn't knocked it over yet!
The alarms are easy to set, and it's easy to see at a glance whether the alarms are set and for what time. On my old one, I would have had to go through a routine of holding several tiny buttons down at the same time to see each alarm setting. I've been through one automatic daylight savings time switch-over, and it worked flawlessly.
The only thing I miss is an earphone jack, but it's a trade-off I'm willing to live with.
Digital camera Review: Bright Light Bright Light Summary: 3 Stars
Over all the clock is a good buy. The only reason I'm writing this is for those of you who are light sleepers, the display is bright. In some pictures it looks red but is in fact orange. Hope this helps.
Digital camera Review: Broke after one use. Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this clock mainly for the auto set feature which would allow it to continue keeping time when the power has went out. This clock randomly changed time on me on 3 different occasions. I made sure that I had the correct time zone selected on the clock, but one day the clock skipped two hours ahead. The next morning it was 45 minutes behind. Total piece of junk.
