We had owned another Emerson autoset dual alarm clock and after a few years had to replace it when a button broke. Since that worked well, we wanted another Emerson. Well, after having used it for only 3 days, one of the alarms (my husband's) didn't go off. Luckily he got up anyhow, but while he was at work, I tried to see if perhaps the volume on the radio had somehow been turned down. Nope - radio didn't work at all. Then I discovered that neither did my alarm. Couldn't set it anymore. Several other "features" were non-operational as well. On the plus side, it has a great display, bright (but can be dimmed), good price. But if it doesn't work - none of that matters. Smartset clocks have a lot of WOW factor. However, don't be fooled. These are not "Atomic" clocks that keep very accurate time. In fact, these clocks are not set by anything external. They are set at the factory and have a long life backup battery that keeps the clock running. When you plugh it in, the display goes through a visual setting process that looks cool. However, these clocks run fast, slow, etc. Nothing actually syncs the time like clocks called "atomic clocks". When these clocks run fast or slow, you have to reset them manually.
If you are looking for accuracy, SmartSet Technology clocks are NOT what you want.

This has a small footprint and good sound. It is easy to set up. The same station plays for both alarms, meaning that you can't select different stations for different times. The stations are not digital, it is a dial. I use this in place of the GE Dual Alarm phone combo and it is much better reception. The GE is digital so you can try to get 2 different stations but it never worked correctly. The automatic time set on this is very nice. All in all this works very well, it's inexpensive, and small. Excellent product for someone who just can't wake up and focus enough to hit a snooze button, but wants that extra few minutes of shut-eye. This is her second, the first was damaged accidently. Easy to read, adjustable light, and has a good alarm sound.
