This charger sucks and it's expensive too! Very poor low quality construction, overheats batteries, doesn't work half the time.
The fast charging overheats and ruins batteries (causes crystallization). This bloody thing ruined several batteries before I realized what was going on and purchased a real charger (La Crosse Technology BC-900).

I bought this charger at a local electronics store 3-4 years ago, hoping it could cut down on AA batteries for a few basic things (remote control, mini maglight, etc). It's exceeded all of my expectations and I now use it to charge batteries for just about everything.
I have dozens of AA, AAA, C, and D batteries in rotation. I'm an avid photographer and am using it to charge AAs for my speedlights every few days, so it gets a lot of use. In several years, I've never had a single problem with the charger. It always just works. It's reasonably fast. And the battery lifetimes always meet my expectations.
I've only ever used the Energizer brand rechargeable batteries and only the high-capacity ones (e.g. 2450 or 2500 mAH for AAs), so I can't say whether it works with other brands. I wouldn't expect it to.
I can't begin to fathom how much money rechargeables have saved me in these 3-4 years. I still haven't had to replace a single rechargeable battery (even my first ones are going strong). Camera equipment, flashlights, remotes, wireless video game controllers, kids toys, clocks. Turns out I had a lot more batteries in use around my house than I realized and now they're all recharged, basically for free.

I purchased one of these to use at home to recharge batteries primarily used in video controllers. The charger is quick enough, easy to use, and fully charges the batteries. Following our successful use at home (for about a year), I bought a second unit and batteries for use at my church. We use the batteries for the wireless microphone. As a rechargeable battery fan, I've owned many 4-cell chargers.
Then I began to use 15+ AAA NiMH batteries per day at work; I was tired of the 4-cell chargers, some of which would end up uncomfortably warm.
I saw the "Energizer Family Charger" and bought it mostly because it would charge up to 8 batteries, in about 6 hours -- I could charge a set while I was at work and one overnight.
After a couple of months of frequent use, we reduced usage to about 20 batteries/week and then the projects been on hold.
But in that time this charger has been absolutely a great buy.
Pro:
- Bad Cell detection. When you have 40+ cells that you use on a regular basis, some will die. Without
some method to discover bad cells, you'll waste a lot of time trying to discover the problem.
- 1-cell charging. This charge has 4 "slots" each of which will hold 1 or 2 cells. So, if you're
like me with a bunch of 3-cell devices, this offers you a solution that most do not.
Cons:
- kind of pricey.
In fact I like this charger so much, it's the only one I use at home.

This product has been a great investment for our family. We haven't experienced any issues with the charger nor with any energizer rechargeable batteries going bad.
I charge 8 AA's and one 9volt and use them every week for live onstage music. They power wireless units and my camera. As i write this i've been using the same set and charger for about eight months without a hitch. My wife just commented today about buying C's and D's.....i highly recommend energizer rechargeable batteries and this specific family charger.
