Digital camera Review: A Scanner Worth More Than Its Price

I was using an HP photo scanner and was looking for something to replace it. I looked at the customer reviews and guess what, this V300 consistently got very good
reviews. Then I had a look at the price and was pleasantly surprised; then I had a look at Amazon's price and started scratching my head. How can a scanner this good be so modestly
priced?
I bought it, knowing Amazon's amazing return policy.
I have been using it, mainly for slides, that was my prime objective, and for some prints. I haven't tried out the document scanning yet.
First, like everyone else, the set up takes practically no time. The set up disk is fine.
I started scanning and the message came on, take off the cover or something like that, I was puzzled but soon figured out to remove
the cover for document/photo printing, and the slides came on beautifully on the screen. NO waiting time. The actual time of scan wasn't too long but not very quick either. It was actually
reasonable. The software with it is good; although if one has really fixed dirt, it will not remove it all, one has to use another photo editing software, the free Picassa is good.
Again, the software with it Arc Impression is quite adequate most of the time. I have not tried anything but the fully automatic scan as of now, no complaints.
My list of scanned slides (four at a time) is growing and I am a happy camper.
A very nice product at an amazing price.
I don't know how much better the V500 can be over it, perhaps a shade quicker with less noise and a more sophisticated software.
This works for me fine.

Works fine. Sets up easily on Windows XP. Budget scanner that's a little slower than many reviews suggested. Great for home use but not a good option for office.
