Digital camera reviews of Epson Perfection V300 Photo Color Scanner (Black)

Digital camera Review: Buyer beware
Summary: 2 Stars

If you want to scan multiple 35mm slides the Epson software does not allow you to lock the setting and repeat. You have to isolate each image in the 4 slide tray manually & scan 1 at a time if you want a good quality scan. It looks like it should be one setting / scan operation for each 4 slide tray however that is not the case the software will not allow it.

Digital camera Review: Can't ask for more
Summary: 5 Stars

For a mid-line scanner I'm very impressed. Great quality, good speed and an easy to use interface with options for everyone. From a beginner to a pro the software has the options you want and need. A great prview window that shows results of filters applied, etc before you scan. And great results once you do scan.
While I have yet to try scanning any slides. I do have some old ones here that eventually are going to get scanned into digital format. You can even store the slide/film tray in the scanner cover, so no worries about mis-placing it. Not to mention the fully hinged cover/hood that allows scanning books, etc..

I did my research and I am very pleased I chose the v300. Highly recommended!

Digital camera Review: Canon V300 Photo - Review
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a good little scanner, with many good features, at a modest price. For home photos, it is highly satisfactory.

Digital camera Review: Careful about purchasing from BuyNow
Summary: 4 Stars

This is more to do with the seller than the product so ignore the stars, but be careful about purchasing this from BuyNow. I bought it, and paid nearly $30.00 for expedited shipping so it would arrive by the 23rd. It wasn't sent via expedited shipping and as of Christmas eve, it still hasn't arrived. It's a pretty frustrating Christmas with one of the major gifts not expected to arrive until possibly the 29th.

I would have left this in the seller review area, but made a mistake, redacted the initial review, and apparently you don't get to make another with Amazon. Anyways, think twice about buying this from BuyNow.

Digital camera Review: Caution: does not work with Adobe acrobat or photoshop
Summary: 3 Stars

I am a bit disappointed with this scanner. It appears to be mechanically better than the HP it replaced, but it is not nearly as fast as I expected from the reviews. It runs at the same slow speed of all the scanners I have had over the last few years, but it does not have the same warmup time. It is not much of an improvement. If you have to scan a 25-page article from a book, figure on taking almost half an hour. Not acceptable. More seriously, the printer DOES NOT WORK when you try to scan a pdf with Acrobat or Photoshop - Epson says this is Adobe's fault, and Adobe says it's Epson's fault. You can still make a pdf, but you have to use the Epson scan utility. Then save the file, then open it in Acrobat or Photoshop, then save it again. I mad a big mistake buying this - I should have spent another hundred dollars and gotten a much faster scanner with better software support.
