Digital camera reviews of Etón American Red Cross ARCFR160R Microlink Self-Powered AM/FM/NOAA Weather Radio with Flashlight, Solar Power and Cell Phone Charger (Red)

Digital camera Review: DO NOT BUY!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

Absolute piece of junk. Do not buy. Only works on solar power. The rechargeable batteries don't hold a charge for very long, the crank nets very little time. Useless as a weather radio as the charge won't hold. No way to replace batteries or use DC power. Would not be safe to rely on. Very, very sorry I bought this.

Digital camera Review: Dissapointment x 2
Summary: 1 Stars

I ordered this emergency radio after a local power outage for 20 hours. It didn't work and I returned it for a replacement. Neither radio stayed on for more than 30 seconds. The emergency cranks made no difference and the solar chargers didn't charge even though they were directly under a bright desk lamp. They sounded fine-- and the emergency lights worked--for 30 seconds. Considering the other similar complaints, being associated with the Red Cross as an emergency item is a sad mistake and I cannot ethically recommend them for anyone. I'm very sorry; I have returned both and hope the manufacturer corrects their production problems.

Digital camera Review: Does not solar charge your cell phone
Summary: 3 Stars

This product does not charge your phone via solar power. Which is what I bought it for. you have to crank it for 10-15 min (harder than it sounds) to get 1 min of talk time. Granted this would be very useful in an extreme emergency, but not very practical for camping. Sound quality on the radio exceeded my expectations though; which does operate on solar power.

Digital camera Review: Doesn't have a long life
Summary: 2 Stars

Bought one of these about a year ago for my earthquake kit. At first, it worked fine w/o any issues. Actually needed it last week during a power outage. The radio part would NOT work no matter how long I cranked it, nor how much solar charge I gave it. The battery light goes green for a few secs, then just dies. The flashlight part still works though. Nice concept, but on the search for something that's more reliable.

Digital camera Review: Don't let the size throw you!
Summary: 5 Stars

This tiny little radio arrived promptly. It works well. I've used marine weather radios in the past and this one does the trick! It would take up any room or weigh down your emergency pack. I love that it has a jack for my cell phone to charge. Now that's one less thing to worry about. I'm glad I ordered it.
