I've found these very useful either when used while wearing a helmet (natch) on a motorcycle and also when driving my old un-airconditioned car with the windows down at highway speeds. Unlike foam ear plugs, requency response of sounds heard remains relatively normal, but everything is just quieter. Much less of the "plugged up" feeling, and a small amount of air can pass through, keeping my ear canals dryer.

ETY-Plugs earplugs have nearly the same fidelity as Etymotic's Musicians Earplugs (TM) (custom earplugs worn by professional musicians) and are a low cost alternative.
