Digital camera reviews of Etymotic Research ER20 High-Fidelity Earplugs (White with Clear Stem)Digital camera Review: rock on! Summary: 5 StarsThese plugs rock! Very nice noise reduction without muffling. It's almost as if I can hear people better when all the noise in clubs/bars is reduced. Highly recommended! 10$ for saving your hearing for a lifetime?
P.S.: They're a little uncomfortable during lengthy wearing.
Digital camera Review: Great earplugs Summary: 4 StarsGreat fitting plugs that bring all the decibels down instead of just cutting the high and low frequencies. As a bass player I need to keep my hearing AND hear the drummer and these are a great cheap fix. Definately not as good as going to an audiologist for some custom plugs, but for the price a good option. The fit takes some getting used to and I got a lot of jokes made at how they look sticking out of my ears, but at least at the end of the first show I used them I could still hear those comments.
Digital camera Review: These plugs are lifesavers! Summary: 5 StarsLike another reviewer, I play guitar in a rock band and I am therefore exposed to loud music on a pretty regular basis. Because I also double on the trumpet, I have always avoided using traditional ear plugs; I always felt like my head was about to explode when I went for those high notes! With these, though, I don't get that 'congested' feeling.
I can still hear all of the other musicians and the dynamics of the music... everything is just quieter. Plus, I don't feel like my head is a ticking time-bomb!
Digital camera Review: yea earplugs! Summary: 5 Starsso i've become really whinny about my hearing in the last few years, and as much as i feel like no smoking in a public building is a great thing to impose on people i feel like music that permanently damages your hearing should possibly be outlawed as well. now that's kind of extreme. i love loud music, but lately i feel like clubs are just pushing the limits on how loud it should really be. when it literally hurts my ears and my friends are actually yelling 1 inch away from my ears and i can still barely hear them.. i think they could turn it down just a little? but! there is hope.. i started wearing earplugs at loud places several years ago, but hate that it muffles the sound so much.. sure you can still hear it well enough and it sounds ok .. still i have craved more expensive earplugs that would filter out harmful stuff and just turn the noise down! and these really do that pretty well! when i first tried them i wasn't sure if i had them in right because i could still hear the music clearly. but then taking them out you can tell.. and i love it! i've never tried really expensive earplugs so i'm sure there's something better out there... but these are awesome for the $$ ! USE THEM!! you will never look back at those annoying orange plugs again!!! peace out ugly muffle plugs! i love the little case they come with too! SAVE YOUR HEARING!!! YOU WILL BE GLAD LATER!! USE EARPLUGS!! it's the cool thing to do! i feel smarter than everyone not wearing them because i care about the future of my ears and hope to hear good loud music for many more years! think about it!
Digital camera Review: Nice plugs. Summary: 5 StarsI own several types of ear plugs for when I am playing mucic.
The yellow foam, a $$$ pair my doctor molded for me, and these.
I think these are the best that I have used, and I have been using plugs for 15 years. They let in a little bit more or the high frequency range than my other plugs, so when I'm playing everything sounds balanced, not muffled. That is great. They cancel between 12 to 22 db depending on how well you put them in.
I will say that with these you really need to stick them way, and I do mean way, down into your ears. I didn't know I could put things in my ear that far actually. Basically you need to have the last ring seated against the opening of your ear canal to get the most out of these. When they are in that far they can be a little uncomfortable, but nothing is perfect, and it sure is better than tinnitus.
You might get two pair, because if you are like me you are bound to loose one of the plugs.
Also helps to wipe a little moisture on the outside of them before you put them in. Makes them go in a lot more easily.
