Digital camera reviews of Etymotic Research ER20 High-Fidelity Earplugs (White with Clear Stem)

Digital camera Review: Carry them with you everywhere
Summary: 5 Stars

These earplugs are wonderful. They are soft and comfortable. Because of the stem, they are easy to insert and remove. Although you're not supposed to immerse them, they are easy to wash with a rag and a little soap and water. They come with a carrier, and are easy to put on your keys, but do not trust the tiny chain, which breaks very easily.
I attend a lot of band practices and use one in a single ear as a means to hear myself sing, or in both ears when the amps and drum kit get too loud. Also great for loud work environments!
Once when attending an Oktoberfest celebration with friends the band got loud and I inserted my earplugs. My friends sat the table saying "What? Huh?" to every word said, but I could hear them all, because the earplugs diminished the background noise. I keep a pair on each keychain and am constantly buying sets for friends.

Digital camera Review: Cheap, comfortable, and it works!
Summary: 4 Stars

I've never used ear plugs before but I got these for a concert and my ears did not hurt at all! I could still hear and enjoy the music as these plugs reduced all sounds around me without eliminating it. It's still hard to hear the person next to you but without them it would be the same except my ears would stress out from all the yelling and loud music around me :D They're cheap and very comfortable in my ears (4hours). It was awkward at first as I'm not use to sticking something in my ears but after awhile I forgot they were in there!

Digital camera Review: Clear across the spectrum at club concerts
Summary: 5 Stars

My wife and I love to go to club concerts. Before we got these earplugs, we'd stand near the back of the room because it is so loud, and our ears would still ring until the next day. Not anymore. We recently attended two raging loud concerts at the House of Blues, but this time we felt comfortable going close to the front. At first I was not sure what to expect - I thought that maybe the experience would be watered down and muffled, as with traditional earplugs. But actually the sound was excellent! These earplugs let through just enough of the high frequencies and after a couple songs, I forgot that I was wearing them! We didn't have to take them out to engage in conversation. After the concert using these, we didn't have any ringing in the ears at all. Sometimes my ears would itch because this is made from some kind of rubbery material, so that's the only downside, although it didn't happen too often and pushing the stem around a bit was all that was needed to scratch to relieve the itch. It comes with a little flexible case that is just big enough to hold both earplugs and makes it easy to slip into a jean pocket.

Digital camera Review: Ear Drum Saver
Summary: 5 Stars

I go to a few shows a month, and the music ranges from Slayer to Wu-Tang to Air. After a particularly brutal Danzig show left my ears ringing for a month, I decided to invest in these earplugs. They are simply incredible. You can still hear the music quite clearly, but at a more manageable volume. The sound is ever so slightly muffled, but much much better than the old school foam plugs, and much better than going deaf.

Several companies make similar plugs, and I would go for the ones that come in the clear rubber trapezoidal case (this case fits in the pocket better than the round canister container. Also, the plugs can get wedged in the round canister container.)

Buy these plugs for 12$ or so, and save your hearing. It's well worth it.

Digital camera Review: Earplugs for Musicians
Summary: 5 Stars

These are great for musicians who need some ear protection, but still need to hear some of the sound to be able to stay in tune. I have been using these for concert and marching band settings for two years and recommend them to my students.
