Digital camera reviews of Etymotic Research ER20 High-Fidelity Earplugs (White with Clear Stem)

Digital camera Review: Excellent sound quality, great value
Summary: 5 Stars

I have very sensitive hearing and with these I can hear both the live music and conversations with my friends (without coming out of the show deaf). For the price this is a complete no-brainer purchase for anyone who likes live music.

Digital camera Review: Fantastic performance if only they were a little more comfortable (for me)
Summary: 4 Stars

I used to use foam earplugs for years when I went to concerts. It was really a compromise to save my hearing and when I heard a song I really loved I'd take them out so I could really enjoy it. No more! These Etymotic Earplugs do exactly what they're advertised to do by reducing the sound level across all frequencies evenly. Everything still sounds crisp and clear but just lower and more comfortable. I might even risk saying that concerts sound better with these earplugs. You do have to shove them into your ears pretty deep and all of the flanges have to form seals. In my case I didn't find them all that comfortable but it was ok for 2+ hrs.

Digital camera Review: For 7-13mm ear canals, and comes with a nice little case.
Summary: 5 Stars

The product comes with a really nice, small case (smaller than the Hearos cases) and a cord that allows you to connect the two plugs together (if you like being able to drape them around your neck without using them). The case comes with a ball chain so you can fix it to your keychain! 5 stars for coming with really useful accessories. If you're used to the squishy foam earplugs, these won't reduce the sound as much as those do, but you will also be able to hear everything clearly.

The card that comes with the product says that it will fit normal ear canal diameters of 7-13mm. It is rated at 12 dB on the card "when used as directed." The card also describes how to clean the plugs, etc.

Digital camera Review: GREAT!
Summary: 5 Stars

I wear these when drumming with my band, and also when I go to shows. I've always been disappointed with ear plugs because they made live shows sound awful, these just turn the volume down a bit. Save your hearing! Highly recommended.

Digital camera Review: Gets the Job Done
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought these as a replacement for similar earplugs from a different company that I lost. The protection is indistinguishable. They are comfortable and do a great job at taking concert-level volumes down to a degree where your ears won't be ringing after the show. They remove a lot of high end fizz (think drum cymbals) but still allow enough of each frequency in so that the mix sounds good.

I sometimes leave them halfway out of my ears because they cut out too much sound. I wish they made a lightweight version, so I could adjust my earplugs for the volume of the venue. Having the earplugs half-engaged in the ear canal runs the risk of them getting knocked out of your ears, but it is often the best way to listen to the music. Still, a great product, especially for the price.
