Digital camera reviews of Etymotic Research ER20 High-Fidelity Earplugs (White with Clear Stem)Digital camera Review: Great low-cost way to save your hearing and still enjoy loud venues Summary: 5 Stars
I bought these direct from the seller a couple of years ago. I regularly go to a goth club where the music gets louder and louder. I still want to converse with my friends, so regular foam earplugs were out. These work great. I can still hear people talking (as best as one can given the volume of the music), yet can leave the club without that ringing and temporary deafness (also known as "occluded hearing", which eventually leads to permanent deafness or tinnitus over time).
This is a great way to protect my hearing and still enjoy my times at concerts and clubs.
Digital camera Review: Great product Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased these ear plugs for my son and his friend. They are in a band. They tell me that they have no problem with muffled sounds and that their ears don't ring anymore after a jam session.

Wore these tonight to one of the loudest concerts I've ever attended: the bass felt like someone was banging on my chest. The sound with the plugs in, though, was clear and undistorted, and the volume was just right.
Digital camera Review: I hate construction work outside my window. Summary: 4 Stars
These ear-plugs are pretty nice. They attenuate the sound (don't muffle, just lower volume, basically) and are pretty comfortable. I put them in in the early morning when the construction workers outside my window begin jackhammering the pavement. It lowers the sound enough so I can sleep, but I can still hear my alarm go off. Very helpful. I also wear them on the T and it works pretty well. I might get a few looks from people wondering why tubes are sticking out of my ears but they're not too noticeable. I'd say they're worth the $12. They also work pretty well in loud bars with live music.
Digital camera Review: I thought they were not working, until I took them out Summary: 5 Stars
I've always been sensitive to loud noises, and progressively enjoyed
loud live music less and less as time went on. Eventually I got to
the point I put tissue in my ears (I can deal with looking uncool),
and even sometimes foam earplugs, but they destroy the experience.
I bought these and the first time I wore them I thought they weren't
doing much. Then I took them out and realized they were doing plenty,
it's just the music didn't sound like it was muffled.
I recommend them to anyone, particularly if you care about losing your
hearing or if you're particularly sensitive. I get really annoyed if
I go to something loud and have forgotten them.
