I bought this for a small office after returning a Staples brand shredder. So far this machine is great. I was worried that with 2 power buttons I would have to touch it first every time I wanted to shred like the Staples version, but that is not the case. Staples machine also had an annoying delay from when you put the paper in until it started shredding. This shredder had NONE of those annoying features. And this machine is much more quiet than other shredders. Co-workers tend to come shred by my desk while I am on the phone making it impossible to hear, but not so bad with this shredder. Definitely would purchase again.

My old noisy shredder stopped working in our home office. I researched the new ones with the idea of getting something with a larger capacity and hopefully much quieter. Although this model Fellowes was more than I wanted to spend, I wanted to buy a good quality machine that would last, so I plunked down the cash. Well the machine came and not only does it shred paper well, it is a champ at credit cards and dvd's as well. But even better, it is incredibly quiet. You couldn't use the phone when our other shredder was on because of the sound. I had the same experience that G. Wasiluk did - the safety sensor tab was broken off when I received the product. So, I sent it back to Amazon.com, and got a full refund. At this price point, this unit seemed to have the most features and best reviews. I bought one this big primarily so that I didn't have to open junk mail, then shred it all piecemeal. With this unit, I can take unopened junk mail envelopes and feed the whole thing in at once. It's choked a few times on the big fat ones, but overall, very satisfied. The owner's manual shows 20 minutes of constant operation will trigger a 40 minute cool-down period, but I haven't had that happen. Duty cycle is 50-100 feedings a day, but I've shredded piles of old bills and office papers on and off for a whole day with no problems.Digital camera Review: Don't buy it!

I ordered this shredder for use in my home office. I was impressed by the many reviews saying how great it is. When I received it, it was broken. There was a wire out of place that was preventing paper from going down the slot. So, I called the Fellowes number that is on the shredder. Customer service immediately knew what the problem was and agreed to send me a new one and a label to return the broken one. Great customer service, I thought. Then I received the second shredder. It too was broken - simply would not turn on. Another call to customer service; another prompt agreement to ship me a new one; and another return shipment label. I now have the third. This one shreds great, BUT the sensor that is supposed to shut off the machine when little fingers are near the top isn't working. I have little ones so I care. So I will call again, get another new one, and take yet another trip to UPS to return this one. I'm beyond frustrated. And, I can't return it because the little sticker on top of the shredder is from Fellowes, not the company I bought the shredder from, and Fellowes says "we don't do returns" and I'm now beyond the time frame for return and don't have the original item to return to the company I bought the shredder from. I wonder what will be broken on shredder number 4. Bottom line - it probably works great if you don't get a lemon but you'll probably get a lemon. I would avoid this shredder!
