Digital camera Review: A Great Unintentional iPad Stand

This simple product was meant to hold books, but it turns out to be a remarkably effective stand for the iPad. One of the biggest topics of conversation among iPad owners has been "How do I hold this device?" There are some tasks, such as e-book reading, which work best when the iPad in held in hand, but what about other tasks? Imagine bringing the iPad on a trip and watching a two-hour movie. Holding the iPad at optimal viewing angle for two hours could be uncomfortable, but this stand sits well on an airline tray table or a hotel room nightstand. The tips of the stand cover the viewing area slightly in full-screen mode but usually fall below the letter-box format used on many movies and television programs. Because the stand folds flat, it fits into backpacks and other carry-on luggage. In fact, it can even fit next to the iPad itself in some netbook sleeves.
The are other applications that work better in portrait mode, and this stand functions equally well there. Set it on a kitchen counter if using the iPad to display recipes or grocery lists. Another use is to load Apple's "Remote" app onto an iPad, use it to control a stream of music from your computer to your stereo via an Airport Express, and then set the iPad in the stand with a continuous display of the album art for each track playing. Right now, there are dozens of folding iPad cases that double as stands, cases with built-in kickstands, and other stands made especially for iPad appearing on the market. No doubt, many of these products will be tremendously useful, but if you'd rather not wait for those products to be available or would just prefer to save some money (Most stands designed for iPad are priced around $50.), then this simple and sturdy product from Fellowes may be the best option.
