Digital camera Review: Expensive Disposable Camera

The Flip Mino HD is an impressive little gadget. Its video quality is far beyond what you would expect from such a tiny device, and its small size and intuitive interface make sure it always claims a space in your pocket. I really can not say enough good things about this product's features.
However, I don't recommend buying one. Just four months after purchasing this camcorder BRAND NEW, it has stopped working entirely. It doesn't turn on, it doesn't show up on my computer, and it certainly doesn't record videos any more.
My camera is in flawless physical condition, so I am lead to believe that the innards of these devices are of very shoddy quality. I have scoured the internet and found many others facing the same situation I am. The manufacturer recommends that we place a paperclip in the reset button, which has not resolved the problem for myself or for thousands of others.
The warranty covers an unacceptable 90 days after purchase. This company must have very little confidence in this product to only offer support for 90(!) days. I doubt they are ever surprised to receive angry phone calls or product reviews.
In short, this is an impressive and fun to use product that unfortunately has a lifespan of about 3 months. For that reason, I do not recommend it.

I loved the camera while it worked. Then, after recharging it overnight, I was never able to turn it on overnight. I checked the web site and it seems this occurs quite often. I followed the suggestions and nothing worked. I contacted their support department and since it had been more than 90 days since I bought it they declined any kind of warranty or support. There are other options like the Kodak Zi6 out there with much better support. In the end, $200 off to the trash can.Digital camera Review: FANTASTIC option if you are a parent!

We were trying to decide what camcorder to buy before we had our first baby. We looked at everything and decided on the Flip Mino (they didn't have the HD version then). It was THE BEST decision we ever made! We have taken over 200 videos of our 7 month old using it. It is so portable, small and easy to "flip" out and use unassumingly. You don't feel like one of those annoying parents trying to capture every moment by taking out a big camcorder.....this is so small and cool it feels more like taking a video with your phone and is less intrusive.
It takes nice short videos (which lets face it....who really wants to see long baby videos....short and sweet is better!) that upload seemlessly to YouTube! Our baby has her own channel that all our relatives can watch long distance and know all she is up to.
The interface is easy for anyone to use with a PC (not sure if it works with Mac). Just connect with USB and the software is in the camera! Even updates the software online when needed automatically.
I recommend this HIGHLY for anyone wanting to take short, web ready videos on the fly.

Bought this for my Dad as a birthday present end of September and it stopped working at the end of October. He used it twice. Will not re-set as per customer support. I guess battery lost charge, don't know still waiting on Flip support. Seems like this happens a lot when you Google this problem. I tried several others and they were grainy in the evening. Not Flip Mino, it is excellent! You can take this thing out at night time and get a good picture with it, very impressive. Some others I tried were grainy even in household light. I didn't want to pay the extra money for HD, but the picture is sharp and clear. I'll probably buy an HD when the 3rd generation comes out. I have heard bad things about 2nd generation. For the money, you cannot beat this device. The sound is pretty good, much better than I expected. Try it out, you will like it!
