I am most impressed with this camcorder. Considering the cost and size I expected some drawbacks in terms of quality etc but the results are very good. The minimal zoom facility is not so good however as it seems to be fuzzy when used to zoom in. The accompanying software is also very good for processing videos into movies etc. Also, the e mail and snapshot facilities are handy as well. I intentionally wanted an older model Flip camera because I had one and lost it and I knew it would be sufficient for what I was doing. I was so happy to receive it and begin using it right out of the package. I took movies of my girls and their friends playing mall tag and my friend's son's kindergarten registration. I like it because it is fast and easy to plug in and make a movie. I like the older model because it is less expensive and I thing the picture quality is great. I don't think I need HD and we don't have an HDTV. Not to mention, I got this for less than my first one and it has more memory. My last shot was of a truck who was blowing black clouds out of his exhaust pipe into traffic. I was so stunned that I grabbed my Flip camera out of my purse and took a little video of it. I have lots of friends and associates who have Flip video cameras and love them. I bought one two weeks ago to use on my blog. Last night, I used it for the first time. Everything worked fine and for the price, the videos came out great!
But this morning, I was working on my computer, on something completely unrelated and it crashed. I received a blue screen error and it will no longer run windows. I've been able to track the error down to the Flip, so all I can say is if you have a PC avoid this at all costs. As I type this, I'm on my other computer, while I pray that my laptop is fixable and that I'll be able to get all my data back.
I'm going to have to tell all friends and blog readers to avoid this video camera at all costs.
