Digital camera Review: Awesome camera, until it breaks

The Flip Ultra HD is very nice camera, very nice audio, good video especially in daylight, low light is OK, but low light can't be "High Def". But it nice until it stops working. Mines stopped working twice, thankfully Amazon got my first, but the second one conked out around 2 weeks after the return date expired.
I bought it thanks to the good reviews of Amazon, and I agreed with a lot of them, but they did not emphasize on an important thing important thing, how long it lasts. The first one lasted around two weeks before I sent to Amazon, second one conked out 1 and a half months after I got it.
Buy this if you want a video equivalent of a Kodak disposable film camera. It lasted shorter than some China camera I have had, and they are said to be low quality.

This product rocks ! Great Videos, easy to use and easy to share. If the battery life is improved a little, this product is a sure market sweeper. Be realistic with your expectations on zoom, night shots etc. This is not a professional camera - it is a great device for family videos and is easy to use. If you are looking to buy a drop-dead simple digital camcorder that even your grandmother can use, look no further. I researched a number of camcorders before settling on this one even though it doesn't have a great zoom and other fancy bells and whistles. This device does just one thing - records HD video - and does it very well indeed. Another greatly useful feature is that it accepts standard AA batteries. This means you don't have to lug an extra battery pack and/or a charger like for the other flip models.
Pros:
- Excellent video quality.
- Easy to store and carry (fits nicely in your pocket - it's just slightly thicker and longer than your average cell phone).
- Light weight
- Minimalist controls. You can't go wrong with them.
- Easy to connect to your PC via the inbuilt USB plug.
- Fits on a standard tripod to get steady shake free video.
- Easy to transfer videos to your windows PC or mac.
- Can take standard AA batteries.
Cons:
- The battery life isn't that great.
- The sound quality is a little lukewarm and the microphone isn't sensitive enough.
- No optical zoom. The 2x digital zoom is not very good.

We got this as a gift from our wedding registry. It's really a great camera! The image quality is amazing, the software is easy to use, the portability is superb and it's just kind of cool. Two hours may not sound like a lot of time, but it's plenty and since you can easily download the videos to any computer (while charging it at the same time) it's no problem at all. I find now that the focus is not great when shooting stuff up close, and the zoom is not great. But for making clips of important (and silly) moments, it's really great. Here are some other things to consider:
-The camera's lens is not protected, so make sure it's always in its sleeve.
-The software also allows you to make movies and clip collages, which is great.
-That being said, the software has a strange (non-modifiable) way of storing videos on your computer.
Overall we have found it really great for what we need. Thanks Flip!
