Digital camera reviews of Fujifilm Finepix S8100fd 10MP Digital Camera with 18x Wide Angle Dual Image Stabilized Optical ZoomDigital camera Review: Not what I had hoped for Summary: 3 Stars
Had this for about a week, and was a little disappointed with the battery life and noisy, grainy pictures above 200 ISO. Distortion apparent in wide angle shots. Great zoom, but overall, pictures didn't seem particularly sharp. Probably not a bad budget superzoom for strictly outdoor photos in good light, but I decided to spend a little more and get a DSLR for better image quality in less than ideal lighting, and the added versatility. Thanks to Amazon for excellent return policy.
Digital camera Review: Nothing like it for this price Summary: 5 Stars
If you want performance in low light and intend to use it at 18x zoom a lot STOP and go get a SLR. For all other uses this is the best you can get. The macro function is great, color saturation is beautifull and up to half the zoom range the focus is sharp and quick. Zooming beyond half point will make the focus slower, contrast and sharpness also suffers at close to maximum zooming. But, again for this price...
Digital camera Review: So Far, Very Good Summary: 5 Stars
I am enjoying a new world of zoom lens and a variety of camera options. I've had the camera only a month, but my pictures have been great. I used the night option and got great pictures at a granddaughter's play( no picture taking allowed ! ) dark auditorium... Distance, shoreline and Lake Michigan came out perfect with zoom lens on a sunny day. Inside with flash does all I would expect.
The instruction CD, after I copied all info on paper and made
a note book to carry with me, seems to answer all my questions - so far. Am about to try it in the "old west", southern AZ, I can't wait.
I purchased a 2GB Fujifilm XD chip through Amazon, good price, and the camera is easy to download to the computer, fix the pictures the way you want and then e-mail to the store to develop.
I think one of the best features is the old camera style viewfinder with the adjustment dial along with the LCD moniter.
Digital camera Review: Solid All-around camera Summary: 4 Stars
My wife and I bought this camera to take with us on a long vacation. We wanted to be able to take high quality photos of our family and the places we visited as well as inside museums and beautiful buildings. It performed admirably. The color quality seems to be quite good and the photo resolution is excellent with little noise. My only minor issues are a strange banding which appears only on the screen in bright light (it does not appear on the photos themselves) and this camera's utter lack of high-speed capability. We rarely use high-speed photography so it's not a big problem, but if you're looking to shoot a sporting event or other fast-moving subject this may not be the camera you're looking for. All in all, a very satisfactory purchase and one we do not regret in the least.
Digital camera Review: Started off okay but then got worse and worse Summary: 1 Stars
I should have returned this camera soon after I bought it, but it was okay, so I decided to live with it.
The interface is not intuitive, and makes it difficult to master unless you use all the functions often. It took decent pictures in bright light, but there was a lot of noise in what are light levels that don't need a flash in my Canon point-and-click camera.
Over the first 6 months, the noise levels got worse and worse, making the camera completely unusable indoors. Of course, it is no longer in warranty. A completely waste of my money. I should have never taken a chance in buying a brand that I didn't have direct experience with and will NOT make that mistake again.
