I purchased the ScanSnap from Fujitsu. After 2 weeks of frustration getting the software loaded and with two calls to customer service I called on the expertise of a professional in IT. He could not get suitable answers from Fujitsu customer service and I finally threw in the towel after a promised call was never received from customer service. After returning the product to Amazon (very easy by the way) I have finally gotten the promised call 14 days after the initial day! Needless to say, I am staying away from Fujitsu products as their customer service is woefully inadequate.Digital camera Review: Definitely worth the price

I went through two other document scanners in the last few months -- the HP Scanjet 5550C and the Pentax DSmobile 600 -- before finally ponying up for the Fujitsu. The HP I sold after a few weeks (ADF never worked), and the Pentax I ended up throwing in the garbage (original unit was defective as was the warranty replacement I received). I would have saved myself a whole lot of time and money if I had just purchased the Fujitsu from the get go.
The S510 is pretty much perfect. Right out of the box it looks and feels carefully thought out and well designed. The software and drivers work perfectly with Vista. It scans quickly and clearly. The document feeder works great, and almost never jams (and even then, it opens up in a snap -- quite a difference from the HP, which required two different screwdrivers to open up in case of a jam). I love the way it scans directly to PDF, and preforms OCR and indexing in the background when your computer is idle.
This is a great product, well worth the money.

Bought this for my office to go paperless. I could not be happier with it; worked perfectly right out of the box. Easy setup. Simple to use. I had tried out a colleagues Paperport with his Visioneer and was not impressed. It was SLOW and tedius. The Fugitsu scanned 32 pages in 90 seconds perfectly. They have made Paperport so complex you need a class to get your stuff into the computer. If you're looking for an EASY, SIMPLE document scanner that just works, nothing fancy, just creates searchable PDF"S quickly and you can actually store them where you can find them easily, get this one.Digital camera Review: Did My Research and Was Well Pleased!!!

Before buying a new scanner I researched pretty intensively the various makes and models available. I needed a very reliable and quick scanner that produces excellent pdfs and at a very reasonable price. I concluded the Fujitsu was my best bet. I have NOT been disappointed. I have scanned in 9 years worth of semi-monthly reports as well as use it daily for documents that need to be emailed. I am thoroughly impressed with this machne and its ease of use. Yes, I read the other reviews too, I have had a few minor jams (but this doesn't happen very often) -as would any machine but it's very simple to clear- Press a button and the top opens releasing the document. I've had other machines that a minor Jam was a chore to fix. Would not trade my scanner for any other in this same catagory and price range!

So I read all the reviews on this product and I inadvertently developed some pretty intense expectations. This product blows all of those away. Sure it's a pretty penny to spend on something that only serves one purpose. I'll probably really use this hardcore for the first few months that I own it (while I scan the last 6 years of paperwork I've accumulated so I can go paperless) but I think this is going to turn out to be well worth it.
I picked up the scanner just over an hour ago. I got it all setup, configured, and I've already scanned close to 500 pages (of varying size, color and thickness). This scanner can really tear it up. 5 stars!
