Digital camera reviews of GE 24775 Quantum HDTV Antenna

Digital camera Review: GE Indoor antenna ineffective
Summary: 1 Stars

In our signal area, around 12 miles from the stations' broadcast antennas, we found that the GE antenna is only marginally effective in pulling in digital and HD signals. Only VHF signals are received with any reliability. UHF signals are problematical. We had better luck with an old set of amplified, Radio Shack rabbit-ears. Reception is better late at night, but I don't this antenna is a solution to the digital TV conversion problem.

Digital camera Review: Good for digital TV
Summary: 5 Stars

Yes, I am cheap particularly about television and decided long ago I wasn't wasting money purchasing it. Despite living in the woods in rural Oregon and under a hillside, I am able to receive ABC, NBC, and two PBS stations using indoor rabbit ears with a converter box. And that's enough news and TV entertainment for me. Digital TV has altered reception, however. A week or so ago, about 15 minutes before the Preakness Horse Race was to begin, my NBC TV reception died. Intent on seeing the race and after fooling with the rabbit ears antenna for about 10 minutes, I hauled my box TV to four different locations in the house and back again with a broken bone in my foot, no less, so you know how desperate I was to reestablish reception. But no luck. I wanted to watch that two minute horse race and, of course, I didn't. The local NBC station disappeared from my set for days. I did some internet shopping, investigating antennas designed for digital reception, but with 3 stars, I wasn't about to order this antenna by mail. A few days later, however, I found the antenna at the local Bimart store for under $30 so decided to give it a try. I could easily take it back if it didn't work out. The antenna was easy to set-up... well, after I got it right side up, the little walls notched together properly, and plugged in. With its single antenna placed at the window, NBC reappeared at last and all other channels came in as well. I've had for five days, now, have lost no reception and have not needed to reposition the antenna at all -- a frustrating activity with the rabbit ears and almost always necessary in the past when I changed stations. The only thing I don't like is the little blue light signaling power going to the antenna. I have the antenna plugged into an power strip and now turn the strip off each night thereby turning off the annoying light.

Digital camera Review: Got Only About Two Thirds of Stations that I Should
Summary: 3 Stars

I really liked the look of this antenna, and with all the good reviews, I thought I'd give it a try. I live half way between Milwaukee and Chicago. With my RCA Indoor Amplified Tv Antenna, I received over 40 channels from both Milwaukee and Chicago, including CBS from Milwaukee (CBS is a difficult channel to get in Chicago area). I got almost no channels from Milwaukee with this antenna, and many of those in Chicago would fade in and out. Needless to say, I will be returning this. I thought about giving two stars, but decided to rate average with three as I suspect getting an appropriate antenna simply means finding one that works well with your TV, your geographic location, and your environmental circumstances.

Digital camera Review: Great Antenna
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a good antenna. I'm using it in a basement that is mostly underground, and surrounded by brick walls and the HD channels come in crystal clear!

Just make sure you do an automatic channel search on your TV. Before I did that, I was having trouble tuning to any channels at all (probably not the fault of the antenna, though).

This antenna can be made very slim to fit virtually anywhere!

Digital camera Review: Great Antenna needs extras
Summary: 4 Stars

I subscribed to Basic Cable TV and they were cutting me off from the free digital broadcasts. I live next to the Rocky Mountains and 63 miles away from Albuquerque where broadcast signals originate. After installing and doing a new setup on my HDTV, I now get more channels than before and all are crystal digital clear. The only problem with this antenna is that the power cord and the hard-wired coaxial cable are both very short (that cost one star). I put the antenna on top of a high bookshelf and neither cable reached the floor. I extended them both and all works fine now. Great antenna!
