Digital camera reviews of Garmin 010-00679-05 Forerunner 50 Sports Watch with Heart Rate Monitor and USB ANT StickDigital camera Review: get a different model from a different company Summary: 1 Stars
I have owned this worthless item for a while now. To this date, this item has not helped me to improve anything at all. I spend most of my time just getting the thing to work. So far all it has done consistently is dump my information, suck battery life, and take my free time. I am constantly pairing the item, constantly trying to get it to sync correctly with my computer, and so far, I've lost several running sessions because it blanks out on me and dumps my information. I have to unscrew the back to "re-adjust" the battery so it starts to work, and it has 4 of the smallest screws and the battery is fixed in so tight, you have to peel back some fitted plastic piece just to get it out. There's no gps unit in it to tell you how far you have run. You have to buy three other accessories just to get the one benefit of tracking your distance and time, whether you're riding a bicycle, or running on the street. For that amount of money, you might as well just buy a hand held gps and a regular heart rate monitor, because this item is just going to waste all of your time.
Digital camera Review: great replacement for my old Polar heart rate monitor Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this to replace an old heart rate monitor. I love the wealth of features in the watch, compared to my old watch that just displayed my heart rate. The only downside I've discovered so far is that the heart rate doesn't seem to be picked up by cardio equipment at the gym like with my old monitor. Not a biggie, but nice to see it on the display instead of having to glance at my watch all the time.
Digital camera Review: love it Summary: 5 Stars
I have the watch with heart rate monitor, and also purchased the foot pod separately. LOVE these items! I am an avid runner and these have helped me to improve my training greatly. Easy to use. The only thing I found slightly annoying was for the first few times using the heart rate monitor & foot pod together, I had to pair them each time - they didn't each automatically pair as the manual said they would. Then in future uses, if I was only using one of the two devices, I had to pair it again separately for the watch to read it. After about 10 or so times of the pairing issues, the devices now pair without problems. Very satidsied - makes training more fun & functional. I have a very small frame & am 33 in. around at the chest...so the heart rate monitor is too big for me. However, since I am always weraing a sports bra/top with built in bra, I just make sure the monitor is held in place with the elastic from my bra, and it works fine.
Digital camera Review: not quite enough Summary: 3 Stars
I got this for my girlfriend but unfortunatley I didn't read the discription close enough so I missed that you need to buy the foot pod to count calories. So I ended up with a nice new heart rate monitor for myself and and had to buy her a Polar that does count calories on its own. I like this monitor though and I'm just interested in my heart rate so its perfect for me. If that's all your looking for than its a pretty good deal.
Digital camera Review: poor product Summary: 3 Stars
The monitor did not read my heart rate. I tried all the suggested solutions except electrode gel. When I emailed the support address, I was told to call. When I called, there was a message saying that I would have to listen to elevator music for 45 minutes before anyone could help me. I emailed that this was not acceptable. They ignored me.
Someone I know told me I could use KY gel instead of electrode. This seemed to help but next time I used the watch, it gave completely inaccurate readings.
Not Mac compatible.
Large wrist strap. I have trouble finding large enough bands.
Documentation so so. Not as bad as most.
