Digital camera Review: Case for an nuvi 855

I bought this case along with a nuvi 855. The package says it should fit an 800 series, however, it is much too small. The contruction is ok, but the cheap plastic covering seems to have shrunk or was cut too small. I was only able to slide the 855 partially in and could bearly get it out.
This case is pretty much worthless. I do not recommend buying it.
I had another Garmin that came with a case. That case fit very well. It was also made from better materials.

This case actuates the power switch as you insert or remove the unit from the case. Earlier model GPS units had a push type switch and didn't have a problem with this type of case. The 700 series Nuvi units use a slide switch which gets actuated by the elastic sides of the case. It is also very hard to remove the unit from the case if fully inserted.Digital camera Review: Case is probably worse than useless

WHile I love Garmin GPS units (I have had three auto and two marine units) I HATE this case. Why? Is is slippery inside, and while carrying the GPS to the car, twice the unit has slipped out of the case and hit the ground. This has broken the on/off switch and I can no longer use the unit.
In short, I now use a little bag that also holds the bean bag mount that I use.

You'd have to be a major idiot to have a problem with this thing. I can't figure out how folks are so easily defeated by something so simple. This little sleeve protects your GPS when you throw it in a pocket, purse or brief case. It is not designed to be crush-proof or weather proof. If you really need more protection while walking around with the GPS in your bag, get a Pelican 1020.
