Digital camera Review: Can't read it in sunlight

I was very disappointed in this device. So much so that I returned it. It has a lot of good features. Unfortunately, the features are of no value if you can't see the screen outside in the sunlight. I also found the touch screen to be difficult to use with my big fingers. I went back to my old black and white SkyCaddie.Digital camera Review: Cannot read dispaly outdoors (works fine indoors)!

First of all, no where on this unit's box or its instructions, does it mention that you must register this unit first before trying to use it. I guess that they think that everyone should already know these things. Trust me, there are a lot of people that play golf that do not know this. Actually tried two of these units. The first one that I had resulted in a call to tech support and we determined that the backlit feature was not working. So, I returned that one for another unit. Checked it out to determine that it was working properly. However, I tried to use this on two consecutive days of golf, one sunny & the other overcast skies, and I could NOT read the display when outside on the golf course. The display lighting on this device really needs to be increased considerably so that you can read it. So, after trying two units, I bought my SkyCaddie SG5 and it works great!Digital camera Review: Clearly my favorite!

No downloads. No annual fees. Good battery life. Locates courses nearby. Easy to see screen. Touch screen and no instructions needed! I love it and am selling my (3) previous models to friends. This makes course management so simple when a tap on the screen shows distance of next shot instantly. When you get it working it is very nice. However, unit doesn't seem to be able to know where it is. It defaults to last area I was in playing golf. I have to find course via search in preview mode and if i can find it it then suddenly knows I'm in a new place. Instuctions assume it does know where it is so this is a flaw. I ordered this based on the 5 star reviews and took it to
cranwell resort in Lenox, MA .. One of the top golf courses
rated in Golf Digest. The couse wasn't listed on the course roster provided so it was useless.
Then I took it to a local golf course with brand new
Nimh rechargeable batteries installed and it
died within minutes of starting to play the first hole. I tried to charge it overnight at home and I still got the message saying low battery.
I now have another set of
new lithium batteries and will try it again today
But if it doesn't hold the charge it's going back . I have used sky caddie for years and it's much easier !!
